ADP: There's a lot of us doing the real thing out there! Few can match this car on a hill climb, even tarty EVO's have a tough time.
Lots of great mods that are very effective as a combination, a bargain here for someone....

Looking at buying another subaru as a trackcar would this car run ok on track or would the it need a different gearbox ?

CarMan

Ideal gearbox - quiet, quick, virtually unbreakable and expensive! Loves clutchless changes too and with close ratios, so awesome acceleration.

The downside . . . . . . . . .

Well there is none really!

Let me guess, Mellow Yellow strikes again????

Who ever got this car is a VERY lucky guy. It IS everything stated, and is a delight to drive, especially when you are on an empty track......

The car is still for sale and looking for the right home.

Would easily make a lot more power too - with a simple turbo/injector upgrade.

Must be a genuine bargain to the right buyer.

But don't take my word for it . . . .

This is a very well known car, has proven results and is a very fast road car - although I would not suggest it is an everyday motorway muncher!

Not just your average '96 RA with a few bolt-on goodies.

In exceptional condition.

Will consider offers (but not stupid ones please).

Car is available for viewing at main dealer in the Midlands (Andrew Burt Subaru).

Rob,

I can't believe you're selling it. It's one of the cleanest, quickest, well sorted cars I've been in :D

Everyone. I've 'lived' with this car for 3 years. I've struggled to catch it in competition, and Carman is a friend of mine. It is far too cheap at this price, the mods are very effective as a sum of the parts, and it has not been on the road for 3 years (trailered to the events) hence the low miles. Go and see it at Andrew Burt's Subaru showroom, seeing is believing.
The torque curve is so flat, and the box so fast it makes for a fast fast ride, goes round the bends too!
Anyway, it's my job to BTTT each night now for the next week, so if there are any questions about the car and the spec I can give you some facts if you wish.

Many thanks for that while I am away. Will try to keep up with e-mails one way or another - but you never know, that far South!

Andrew Burt's, as in the Subaru dealer in Henly in Arden on the Stratford Rd?

911
07 March 2004, 18:47
Yep, thats the one. The car is inside the showroom next to a bug-eye PPP. Andrews place has a mixture of Scooby's from mild to wild, hence this RA! He also hill climbs a quick Legacy, and has has the challenge of competing against this RA when it was much more standard.

Errr... has it been thrashed?

911
07 March 2004, 23:44
Raced? Yes.
Abused, no.
Modified to tolerate it all reliably, yes. (Hence the gearbox, GEMS, water injection etc)

Isn't that what the RA (race altered) is meant for?

Trouble is it's been cosseted and cared for also!

Don't be put-off by the 'competition' photos - here it is in road trim.

I would certainly be happy to discuss adjustments to the spec and price with any serious buyer.

one thing; is it the original engine?
(ie: mega low mileage for its age)

btw- love the comp' trim! :D

BTTT! :)

CarMan

Chrome

Yes, it is the original engine and very low miles (16k).

Always been warmed carefully before hard use and cooled afterwards. Always had Mobil1 Motorsport, regularly changed.

I bought the car in 2000 with 8k miles warranted genuine and since then it has only been a toy. Did only 500 miles last year! All Old MOT's since import to confirm.

Desperate for the money - I ain't

Bored with trying to sell it - I am

Weenie, you seem to have an opinion - whats' it worth?

Mellow, you put a value on it - so why not go through with it?

James - which bits do you want?

Not even a part-ex offer.

There are plenty of people out there who know this car really well. Tegsport, Steve Simpson, G-Force, MarkA, 911, Quicks, Prosport + many others and everybody I have beaten on the hills (and one that I haven't - respect to ya' Roy).

There is just a lot of hot air on 'ere me finks!

Maybe I should just break it - and sell the bits on E-Bay.
