View Full Version : WARNING - Bumpsteer reduces fuel economy !
StanS 10 November 2000, 21:06 Before the bumpsteer mod I was averaging 300 -330 miles per tank, personal worst 270.
Since the guys at Power Station did the bumpsteer mod a couple of months ago, the car handles so much better I am now only getting 270 - 300 miles per tank and new personal worst 220 !! Its great to get so much extra enjoyment/performance whilst still well within the car's limits. I feel its now so much more to my liking I am giving it more welly more often, just because it is possible. Perhaps when the novelty wears off in a year or so I'll get back to better fuel economy - or maybe not. Cheers guys - love it!!

CharliePsycho 11 November 2000, 01:10 Is that the best you can do?
My personal worst (Devon to Wapping 216 miles) is two and a half tanks of fuel - estimate 120 litres or 24 gallons (ish)
hmmm.... 9mpg http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif .. oh but that the best 2 hours (including 3 fuel stops) I ever had whilst keeping my pants on !!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

It couldn't be anything do with your right foot enjoying all that extra control, could it? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
StanS 11 November 2000, 21:34 Charlie P !!!! - either your car has a fuel leak or you must have driven like a lucking funatic !!
Cheers Pete - might have something to do with the right foot. Am getting Basildon withdrawal symptoms - must get a price for fittin an A pillar boost gauge off you (either supply+fit Autometer white background - Phantom ? - or labour only - whichever)

You are a fine one to speak - ever since we had your exhausts fitted we are both driving through narrow streets in town in second instead of third or fourth - why's that then??
sunilp 12 November 2000, 11:01 So you can pick up 15yr old skool kids and be like me! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

sunilp 12 November 2000, 18:37 Yeah, loads, i've moved onto 6th formers!, you need to get there in the week though! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif,
schuey 12 November 2000, 18:58 330 miles out of a tank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish. I got to 320 once and I was driving like a granny because my tyres were completly shot.
I do well if I get 280 out of a tank, normally about 260 and that includes doing over 100 miles on a motorway at a steady 80-85. OK so the rest is back road blast, which is even more of a blast after the bump steer mod.
Have to admit that since having a SS back box fitted I drive round town in a lower gear than I used to and hold onto that gear for a little longer than normal when accelerating. Several times the limiter has cut in because I've forgotten to change up!!
StanS 12 November 2000, 20:42 Schuey - 330-340 miles per 55 litres was motorway steady 80mph, but driving fairly sensibly I usually got 300 - 320. Those were the days -or were they ?

Andy Tang 15 November 2000, 12:27 Sith,
How is the new steering wheel?? Did the installation go alright???
Andy
Sith 15 November 2000, 12:52 Andy,
Not seen your name on this board for a while now. Just lurking I guess.
Unfortunately the wheel is not on. We hit some unexpected problems during fitting.
Adding things to my Scoob is a not going too well at the moment. Things that should fit have resisted attempts. DOH!
I shall mail you off line, to continue.
