AndyC_772 28 February 2004, 19:19 ps. I spent about four hours standing out in the snow to get that shot - am I taking this too seriously? lol! :D Mr.Cookie 28 February 2004, 19:21 Bit quiet this one isn't it :( I see you went bird watching again Andy ;) very nice :D Si Mr.Cookie 28 February 2004, 19:23 ps. I spent about four hours standing out in the snow to get that shot - am I taking this too seriously? lol! You got snow :o it's not fair i want snow :( :D AndyC_772 28 February 2004, 19:23 31 replies and 32 views for this thread - I think the photo comp must have attracted its target audience by now and isn't getting much other interest. Maybe the theme for the next round should be 'breasts'? Mr.Cookie 28 February 2004, 19:32 Andy I don't think the counters are right to be honest, on a side note i hope you win so you get to choose topic ;) Si flat4 01 March 2004, 01:39 BTTT :) i'd like to thank Ryanair for getting me that high up to take a picture :D shaggy1973 01 March 2004, 01:49 j4mou, You a bit of a RC'er? Nice pic of the copter :D I hope you did not take the picture at the same time as flying and driving  Darren yes mate, its a damn site cheaper than the scoob is! apart from when i stuff the heli!! I used a very special piece of equipment to take my pictures, I dont want to go into too much detail as I know all you camera boffins will get upset. it cost me fook all and i got it free with my pc. lol @ £1800 for a camera, it would have to be fookin gold plated with diamonds and give me a jlow bob and fetch me a drink for that much!! lol   I vote for breasts for the next comp!!! I have a few ideas for that! :D jamo :D BOB.T 01 March 2004, 14:08 Breasts:cool: Mr.Cookie 04 March 2004, 20:26 booing mj 04 March 2004, 21:47 some belting pics guys..... cheers flat 4 :D http://www.maj.clara.net/upload/dt1.jpg darlodge 04 March 2004, 23:38 I might even have an entry for this by the weekend :D My girlfriend is buying me a camera for my birthday and we are going to look at it tomorrow afternoon. Mint EOS 5 + VG10 grip for just over £200 and it comes with a warranty :D But she might not let me have it until my birthday on the 18th :( Darren AndyC_772 05 March 2004, 00:26 How long have you been looking for an EOS 5, Darren? :D Best of luck with it, looking forward to some samples. It'll keep me interested while my camera's back with Canon having the AF calibrated. 4-6 weeks they've quoted! Looks like I'll be entering round 5 with the camera in my phone :( darlodge 05 March 2004, 09:08 I know what you mean Andy, every time I was looking for the camera the money had to be spent on something else  We are also going to Florida in April so a huge percentage of all our money got spent on that, that and trying to do something with the house that and my girlfriend is currently off sick from work so she is receiving sod all pay wise. Anyway I'm off to Park Cameras later today with the girlfriend to go play, I might even try and persuade her that I need the EOS 3 that is £380 :D But then I'd have no money for a lens. Andy did you not have a spare body? I thought you had a 30 as well or is film below you now :D Is there anything I should be looking out for when buying a camera. I know what to look for on the EOS 5 (top command dial etc.) but its things like the shutter, inside, mirrors, lens mount etc. I'm still looking around for some advice. Darren darlodge 05 March 2004, 20:24 Well I called Park cameras and the camera is not mint, the flash unit was broken and has to be held on with tape :( No thanks then, not at over £200. Anyway, calling around Jessops branches, I managed to find a Grade 1 (Box, manuals, no scratches etc.) EOS 5 body for £180 :D It arrives on Monday or Tuesday:D Just need by the grip now oh and a lens :D :D can't wait. Darren AndyC_772 05 March 2004, 22:27 Glad you finally found one :) I'm surprised that Park would even have a damaged camera - I wouldn't have thought they'd want to be associated with poor quality equipment. At least they were honest about it. Which lens did you have in mind? I do have an EOS 33 and a few spare rolls of film, so I'll certainly have a go with that. Thing is, most of my recent work has involved a certain amount of trial and error, which isn't something that film lends itself to half as well as digital. I guess I've been spoiled :D darlodge 06 March 2004, 13:04 Park Cameras were honest and up front about it. I am sure my girlfriend told me it was mint condition; maybe she was just offering me a mint :) I am just gonna get a cheap lens (28-90 most likely) to get me started and I am gonna pickup a 28-135 IS lens in Florida in April as most of my shots will be hand held and I want to take my camera to Brands Hatch just after I get back from holiday and I am not taking a tripod. Once I've got back into the swing of it again I'll look into buying a longer telephoto lens, ideally I'd like one of everything:D At the moment I can't decide whether I'd be best with a prime lens (i.e. 300mm f/4.0L USM IS, 400mm f/5.6L USM) or a zoom lens like the 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS. All of these lenes can be had for under 1k if I do some shopping and I also have a friend of the family who lives in New York and comes back to England regularly :D so that makes them about £600 each :D. I think I'll have to play it be ear and work out which one is more suitable nearer the time. I've always had an interest in nature and wildlife photography and motorsport of course, so getting close is not really an option. The trial and error method has to be the biggest benefit in my opinion of using digital over film, I just could not warrant the money on a digital body just yet. I looked at D30, D60’s but the D30’s are still going for over £500. That will buy you a new EOS 3. Anyway better dash, its the girlfriends birthday and I am on Scoobynet :D Come on people, get those photos submitted, what excuse have you got? Darren Wizzbang 07 March 2004, 01:21 Well I suppose I have no excuses now, Ive been waiting for a decent price on a Nikon coolpix5700 and today i picked one up(bye bye Kodak dx4900), Ive been mucking around with it today, and once I figured out what all the little buttons do and have taken a few decent shots I'll see about getting an entry up. WizzBang AndyC_772 09 March 2004, 10:50 Last day tomorrow, get snapping :D springbok 09 March 2004, 13:39 Added a couple of pics from this weekends Tour of Epynt. I gave up on the birds in the garden and went to Wales to catch some rare flying rally cars instead :D More pics on my website HERE (http://mysite.freeserve.com/Wright_Photography) AndyC_772 10 March 2004, 21:03 BTTT for the last few hours - closing time is very soon. Mr.Cookie 10 March 2004, 21:53 Disclaimer: not a real entry! Wanna bet ;) Sbradley 10 March 2004, 22:21 Aargh! I really wanted to get an entry onto this thread but haven't been able to get out and see daylight since it started. Very disappointed :( for me but very impressed with the entries so far. SB Daryl 10 March 2004, 22:30 What idiot chose such a difficult subject! Should have chosen cars ;) Been trying to get some sort of shot for days - I had all sorts of ideas, but none of them worked out right. As I thought of the subject, I suppose I'll have to enter something; any chance of someone hosting a pic for me please? :) AndyC_772 10 March 2004, 22:31 Sure, email it over and I'll put it up tonight. |
