Has anybody used old scaffolding planks as a base for garden decking these planks are approx 8x2. Have been told to lay them vertically on crushed rock for sound foundation is this right and whatelse is required? :confused:

any substructure under decking should be rot proof ,you really should use
tannalised timber ,tannalised timber usually has a green tint to it.

to my knowldege scaffold boards have no preservative on them

you could treat them with the canned stuff but this is no were near as good as tanny
