Mark, yhm.

Guys, I currently have a 2.5 motor from Mark, untouched in orginal crate. If anyone would like it at the original GB price, email me at richard.hopkins@emap.com I'm in Peterborough, Cambs.

I'm thinking of upgrading to the Apex Stage 3 motor Mark refers to above, which comes already fitted with trick pistons and rods. It's expensive and I don't need it now, but next year might be different :D

Cheers,

Richard.

Anyone having problems insuring after swapping to the 2.5? My broker has just told me no way but NU might for an extra £8-900 :eek2:

You could always file off the 57 so it says EJ2...

For future reference I got a slightly more expensive / different quote, but with better components:

"Tony,

Thank you for you enquiry. However, we do not get involved in price

matching particularly when it concerns custom engines and such. We have

been building Subaru engines for competition for a number of years and have

had the opportunity to test and evaluate many different products. Based on

this knowledge the choice of compenents we use ensures that our customers

recieve the performance, reliability, and longevity they are expecting. The

components we choose are the highest quality products available regardless

of price, brand name, or other factors. This is what our customers have

come to expect from us and therefore it would be difficult to price match

with other engine builders who choose components based on meeting a certain

price level and not necessarily to provide the best quality product.

We utilize Carillo H-beam connecting rods because Carillo has the most

stringent quality controls in the business and use proprietary materials &

treatment processes that exceed the specifications of any other brand on the

market. They are quite a bit more expensive then Pauter (which Axis uses),

Eagle, and others. For pistons we use Wiseco for road applications because

the expansion characteristics of the materials ensure a long life with low

noise and reduced cylinder wall scuffing. They are also fairly lightweight

compared to some other piston brands.

With this in mind, our competition 2.5L shortblock runs $3450. We can cross

drill the crankshaft for an additional $150.

If you think you will have an order for several pieces we can discuss

discounts although there is not a tremendous amount of room to move on the

price. Thanks.

Regards,

Dave

Insurance for modded cars, try Subaru Insured. Run by Tom of Schofield Insurance. He posts as Rum on here enquiries@subaru-insured.co.uk tel 0870 770 6220

No problem with any of my mods, or the 2.5 coming. £740 FC, but I am very old, clean license, and live in a very respectable neighborouhood, as I'm sure we all do :p It was suggested that my NOS idea might give the wrong impression, though :D

What ECU are you using ?

A remap would be very wise for protection and power output
