i've got a concrete floor/base to my house, which a few mates and i dug up and relayed. We dug down a couple of feet dig the hardcore and sand bit, membraned it then filled it in with about 7 to 8 inch of concrete. but it's not level, there are still small humps in it. how do i level it out?

Sounds like you'll be needing some levelling compound, it's like really runny cement, that might not solve the problem totally, but it should help, sonds as though the concrete wasn't runny enough!

for every square metre of floor, you will need 1 litre of screed to raise the level by 1mm, so per mm raised, your floor equates to 39 litres.

if your lumps of concrete are 10mm you will need 10 times 39 litres - 390 litres- to finish flush with the top of the lumps.

better off with a kango, and fill in the holes later.

if you want it level type level, then you do a 50mm sand and cement screed, and scrape it across level timbers.

whats the level like in general across the corners ?

You will find it cheaper to put a screed over it , If its that bad, ton of grit sand 8 bags of cement £50 , >>easy cheers Alan.

it's approx 39 sq meters, or in old money 21ft x 21ft square.

make sure whatever levelling compound you use to do as directed, or ensure the layer does, many prefer to do their own preferred mix so it dries quicker or whatever but it wont be as gooda floor! There are various types of compound you can use for different situattions i'll try & dig some info out later.....

What ever you use I would recommend you hire a mixer the compound stuff does go off quite quick and the size you are talking about is going to need at least three mixes

pay someone to put a sand and cement screed over it - self levelling stuff is crap if you are not handy with a trowel, and given that your concrete isn't level - I would think that you might not be :D

Min 1" to 2" plus if needed, Alan.
