I see the govt. is going to make thermostatic mixing valves (tmv's) compulsory on baths to prevent scalding.
When I run a bath I turn on the hot tap and use the cold water that flows from the pipe, then allow the following hot to achieve a reasonable temperature, then use hot and cold mixed to complete the process.
AIUI the tmv will not allow water above the 'normal' bath temperature (46°C) to emerge. Therefore you will have to run off and waste the cold water from the system before running the bath.
Is my understanding correct? If so then millions of gallons of water will be wasted nationwide at a time when the govt. is encouraging us to preserve these scarce resources. Besides which I am on a meter and my bills will increase dramatically.
