can anybody help me with some general info about the Cyprus rally, it's our first time going abroad to watch a rally, is there a internet site to help us with the routes etc, are there tickets available on the day, we will be there four days before so where do I go and get the tickets from, I'd be grateful for any general help.
Cheers
Carys.

There is an official Cyprus Rally web site, though it only has a bit of this years info on it at the moment.

http://www.cyprusrally.org.cy/

You can get a 'gold pass' for around CYŁ15 (about Ł20) which gets you in all service areas & stages. It seems you can get them from various outlets, but the easiest is rally HQ ( Four Seasons Hotel, Amathus, nr Limassol) Where are you staying???

I go to Cyprus once or twice a year as my parents live there, so finding my way around the mountains is a bit easier, but the maps are terrible for detail. I would advise you to hire a jeep as it is not unusual to find the tarmac runs out and you are onto gravel for miles!!!!

Ok, there's a bit of info to fill a few gaps. If you need any more help drop me an email or post it on here.

We went last year, best decision we ever made.
I downloaded the full colour maps from the official site a few weeks beforehand and planned in a few stages each day, with visits to the start+finish and servicing.
I ended up only buying 1 rally pass but that got me and the missus in wherever we went, some parts of the stages don't even require a pass as you can drive right up to the stage as its not all marshalled.
Take loads of water + suncream with you as it was nearly touching the 40's, and watch out for snakes under the rocks in the mountains as we saw one local getting the fright of his life as one appeared from the rock he was sitting on.
In the mountains the stages are not really signposted which makes it loads of fun to find them, but you don't have to leave lots of time as there is no traffic and loads of parking room.....
have fun

I would love to go back, and I will one day, but this year we are getting married (as we got engaged at Aprodites rock in Cyprus last year) so thats going to take up all my time.
I suggested a honeymoon to another round of the WRC but my other 1/2 is not to pleased with the idea :( can't imagine why ?

Hey, I have been going to rally Cyprus for a few years, I got married in Limassol, and made sure that we coincided the date with the rally. Going back this year, but booked before the dates were released. We will miss it by 2 weeks. They have changed the dates so many times for that bloody rally lol

Thankyou Turves your comments have been noted ;) as you can see I get bored easily and love blowing stuff up, who doesnt eh ?

We made it to the Rally GB last year too, it was great fun but a lot more expensive and over marshalled. Cyprus is a lot more laid back, ok the signs to stages are non existant but once there you have the freedom to pick your vantage point. I don't think the Cypriots have ever heard of a traffic jam either which was nice.

I managed to get to Corsica as well as Wales last year. Corsica was awesome, and its free to get to the stages. Hop on a cheap Easyjet/BMI Baby flight to Nice, then a slightly more expensive flight to Ajaccio, or take the ferry. All you need do when you get the is pick up a programme, availabe in newsagents, then follow the maps, plus most stages are signposted from the roads. At places where they expect a lot of spectators they organise a car park, and if its a fair walk to a stage they run minibuses to take you there. The only downside was the weather on the last two days, oh, and stuffing my hire car into the back of some spanner who didnt indicate he was turning!

Anyone doing any other foreign events other than Cyprus? Im trying to get a couple in.
