Does anybody know where I can get one of those Victorian style radiators, I've had a small look on the Web and most seem really expensive.

Thanks
John.

I'm afraid all reproduction or original reclaimed cast iron rads are going to be expensive ie. £200-400 for a average sized one and loads more if it has a intricate design. Also remember that the rad will be alot bigger than a modern rad to achieve the same heat output.

There are loads of replicas available. Try www.bisque.co.uk or www.radiatingstyle.com to start with.

We bought replicas from B&Q online
(http:// http://wwww.diy.com )

They stuffed up delivery but they were really nice when they eventually arrived. Price was around £150 each i think but depends what size you want.
We bought a vertical radiator too looks great and saves wall space.

good luck with it

To say cast iron rads as oppossed to steel is inneficient is misleading. Yes they take more time to heat up, so therfore they cool down slower (emmitting more heat) They are expensive but antique rads achieve the required look and provide more heat per size (as they have more surface area) Steel copies are lighter and cheaper but do not last as long so therefore if you keep the property are less cost effective. etc. in the long run. My property is just over 104 years and was originally a school when I purchased it no heating. Now some panel rads some columb rads these rads are restored rads costing £40 to £50 each plus sand blast plus new powder coat etc. If you do a whole house full works out less than £150 per rad plus valves and fitting. Lasted over one hundred years before I bought them.. Get my Point..... I did have steel copies at one point only lasted around two to five years before leaking ( from rot etc. ) Obviuosly it costs me nothing to fit as I am a plumber. But I can assure you the last thing I want to do in my off time is to piss around with my own poxy rads....
