I've a glass fronted, balanced flue, gas fire that won't fire up.
I've changed the PP3 battery for a new one but she still wont go.
On normal use we had a clicking noise before the ignition / pilot light would start, then another turn - whoosh - away we'd go.
Now there is no clicking noise and no sign of gas coming through the system either at pilot stage or "on" stage.
I've got as far as removing the glass etc for a quick hoover but with no effect.
I'm presuming its down to the 3 spark plug looking jobbies near the "on" knob.
Does anybody have any advise before I call the insurance company after blowing the house up ?

Cheers
Chris

If you have changed the battery, it will most likeley be a small micro switch that is activated when you press the knob that commences the ignition. You should test this to see if it is supplying +9vDC to the spark generator, (usually a small black plastic box). If it is then the generator could be faulty. Also check the obvious like wires disconnected etc.

The above information is 'generic' as I havnt come across you exact fire, most fires of this type work in the same way.

Cheers New age.
Tried it last night and it lit first time !!!!!
Sounds like your diagnostics may be bang on - I'll have a butchers for loose wires, dust in the micro switch etc

Many Thanks
Chris
