Hi all. Hope you all had a merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year to all on Scoobynet.

I have just got back from Christmas in Cyprus, staying at my parents place...luvli:cool:. As promised to a few regulars on here, checked availability of accomodation for the rally, while I was out there.

We, that is 7 of us are staying in the Renanda Hotel Apartments, 150yrds from what will be rally HQ (The Four Seasons Hotel). I checked with the owners and they still have room for rally week.

You can contact them via www.renandaapartments.com

If you need any more info, drop me an email and I'll see if I can help out.

With Regards to travel- there was an advert in the 2003 brochure stating Kuoni is now the official travel partner for the Wales Rally GB. I am sure that they could help with accommodation to other WRC rallys.

The website to go to is www.kuoni-dmc.co.uk.

Its worth a try!

Quite a few of the teams stay at the Apollonia Hotel too. Subaru and Ford were there last time I stayed there.

Yep, just checked and there is still space at the Renanda apartments, if anyone is still looking. You can contact them via their web site.

That's pretty tempting.

How do most people get there? Are there any cheap airlines flying there? What about getting around - I guess (as usual) a car is the best way?

Hello from sunny Cyprus, calling all stuck in the UK snow..... wish I was there!

Skelly's brother here.

Direct flights to Cyprus can be got from Cyprus Airways, BA and Helios. There are others, but some go via Germany etc. Helios are the 'budget' carrier, with prices form 120 quid, plus tax. Prices do vary, so its best to book up early. I usually go with Cyprus Airways cos they have got seat back TVs to keep me entertained.

Car hire is not expensive. Deals are available, but reckon about 20 quid per day for somethig decent with good air con.

The Renanda Apts (where Skelly is staying) is perfect for the rally. It is cheap, ideally located not just for rally HQ, but for the bars (I recommend Jonnys, just 50 yds away) and retaurants too.

Always willing to help out if people want me to book them accomodation etc at this end, just drop me a line cos I live here full time.

By the way, I am also competeing in this yrs Evo Challenge in teh UK... if anyone fancies sposnsoring my team, we have got some great PR lined up with loads of TV exposure. I am driving the 2002 World Produciton Cup wining car, as driven by Karamjit Singh, so it's the business of all Evo 6s. Sorry I am not in a Scooby!!

Kali mera sas. Nick.

The rally organisers have now dropped their plans to run the Mille Piste recce system, in view of the latest reports from FIA.

This may mean that the roads up to the stages will be open longer, allowing spectators to be in postition without having to do so while rally cars are carrying out their recce...... got to be good news!

Early info is showing rally passes will be available from rally HQ, The Four Seasons Hotel, Amathus area, Nr Limassol.

About 100yrds from where I'm staying......Luvli

Hello men

The criteria police tell me that you need a real rally car to be on this site not one of those Evo jobbies.

Ian - how the eck are yer - and family - motorsport is the worse for not still being out there. Any plans to show l'il bruv. the way?

Nick - I was planning to do Sunseeker but the deal didn't come off and it is an Evo event really. Good luck - I will try to come down and see you. Hope to see you in Sunny Cyprus in May but not for the WRC treasure hunt - doesnt co-incide with half term!

Keep in touch

Tim

Hi Tim,

I certainly hope to see you all out here again in May.

Looks like bad news on the Sunseeker I'm afraid. Although I have the budget for a the first 2, maybe 3 events, I just can't find the cash for the rest of the year.

I've have worked my nuts off for the last couple of months and reaction has been positive, but just not the right time/not any money from the companies concerned.

I don't want to start the year if I can't finish it, so the car is in Motorsport News this week, to cover my options.

Gutted! Hope you and the family are well. Drop me a line on the e-mail nick@nickskeltonhomes.com Cheers. Nick.

Are you the same Nick Skelton that did the daihatsu rally challenge?

My days of chucking cars about are over I'm affraid Tim.....

and anyway can't live at our Nick's pace, he too bloody quick now. I'm gutted it looks like I won't see him in that Evo. Having seen him go on the Bulldog in his 1600 Pronton up against some hairy machinary.. to see him on a top car would have been very interesting.

Shame I'm not going to bump into you and sink a Keo or two catching up while Rally Cyprus 2004 is on. Will just have to have one for you then.

Paul... Big Bruv here.... yes it is the very same Nick Skelton that won the Diahatsu Championship.

Hi Paul,

Ues I won the Daihatsu Challenge in 98. Seems a long time ago.

I see you are from Marlow, my flat is there. Have we met?

I stayed at the King Richard Hotel right next to the Four Seasons in 2001 and again last year. It's very good, but a little more expensive.

Last year the rally used a gold pass system. Cost £15 (included a hat and program). Lets you into all the stages and service area.

Stages aren't really busy, so you can always get a good view.

Well worth going to, and get a bit of sun and a holiday at the same time.
