Ive got a set of patio windows and the door that slides is very stiff to move when its cold (sliding door).

I found two screws top and bottom of the door and thought it would be a good idea to adjust them. Bad move is even worse now and im getting loads of grief from the Mrs.

Anyone got any ideas on how to ajust them properly?

First of all you need to put the screws you adjusted back to the origional positions, then use WD40 and spray in from each end of the sliding door . The door itself runs on 'bougees' these runners are approx 6" in from the ends, these pick up all the dust and grime so your problem is just a matter of lubrication. It will be a few open/close for it to take full affect. If you still have the problem the bougees may of had it. See how you get on.
