Hi People

Next year me an another group of rally fans are wanting to try and head out to Greece for the Acropolis Rally which is run on 4th - 6th June. The problem being is that we havn't done this before and was wondering if any of you guys could give us any hints. Is there any sites that do rally packages???

Thanks in advance

Wiseguy

P.S. Also who the bloody hell to cheer for without Burnsy and Colin.

Went last year, on an organised thing including coach to the stages, have a look here rally travel (http://www.rallytravel.com/)
It was OK, there are lots of places with the same name in Greece, which makes trying to find the stages a bit of a nightmare.
There was a day when the coach left at 5:15 am.
It's not a bad package (includes hotel, transfers to and from the airport (2 1/2 - 3 hrs each way from Athens) and the coaches to the stages) if you have never been to Greece or don't speak Greek I would say to give them a call.

Oh by the way it's hot, we arrived at shakedown at 6:45 am and it was 38 degrees C.

If you require any further info you can mail me.

Cheers chris i will try them also.....Which airline did you use. They all look pretty expensive at the mo. Im considering cyprus as an alternate venue too.

I used BA for both Cyrprus and Greece, but I had to get from the IOM to a UK airport fist and BA were the cheapest way of doing so.
I know that Ryan air and Easyjet fly to Athens and Cryprus.
The people at rally travel can sort cheap flights.
If you go to Cryprus there is a half decent hotel call the possidonia who do a really good deal if you book direct.
If I were going to Cryprus I would not bother with an organised tour/package, everyone speaks English, road signs are in English, the program has directions to the stages in English and good maps, Car hire is quite cheap but DO avoid the bar Moneypennies it costs the earth.

We were in Greece for the rally this year too. We also made the most of the trip by staying 10 days, and fitting in as much sightseeing as possible.

We got cheap flights with easyjet, booked all our hotels online and by phone. We booked a hire car that we pickedup and dropped off in Athens.

It took quite a bit of planning, but that was half of the fun!

Been looking for cheap flight tickets to cyprus but none of our budget airlines (easyjet etc..) seem to go there. Can anyone help me find some.

have a look here www.cyprusairways.com
they have a flight out in the morning from manchester on the 12th May, returning 19th May for 211.50 inc taxes
I'm sure if you shop around (try teletext) you will get one cheaper though

If you're gonna do cyprus, go to the smarties community and speak to Skelly - he's a local lad to cyprus, and in the past has been involved in driving the tv crews around!! Leave a message for him in the general thread and he will be more than happy to give advice.

ok...read a bit more of the thread now!

As far as I'm aware Easyjet don't do Cyprus as the flight is over the 4 hr threshold, which means they have to provide a meal and blankets/pillows...so not a cheap deal anymore.

We have got schedule flights (out 13th, back 18th) going from Heathrow on BA for £157 return. Expedia were offering the same flight last week at £137 return!

Rally HQ is based in the Four Seasons Hotel, in Amathus area (about 15 minutes from Limassol). We have got 2, 4 bed self catering apartments in a block (Alister Ginley stayed there last year)opposite the Four Seasons Hotel for £57 per person for the 5 nights. Let me know if anyone is interested as I fly out on Tuesday am for Christmas and I'll check if they have any more room while I'm there.

Last year, I believe the organisers did a 'Gold Spectator Pass' which got you into all stages and the service areas for ......£15!! If you wanted to pick and choose your stagea they were £1 each. I know it doesn't make a lot of sense, but this is a country that only charges 50 cents (60p) to get into the ancient ruins and historical sites on the island!!!

Hope this fills a few blanks, let me know if I can help with anything else.

Merry Christmas to all Scoobies. Skelly

There is a poolside bar, and a whole host of great bars and restaurants within 100yrds 'staggering' distance!!
