Thanks for the notice, well found. Just ordered my copy. I am thinking of going to watch the TT this year, have you been?

Yes the TT and the Isle Of Man are ace - been to the last 13TTs, several Manx GPs and a few Car rallys. If you are thinking of going you will need to book asap. www.steam-packet.com for ferry bookings. A lot of useful info on www.iomtt.com Hotel or B&B accomodation will be hard to find - most people tend to go back to the same place year after year. Normally do 1300+ miles on the bike TT week :) Let me know if you need any more info.

Cheers,

Ian.

Good stuff. Yes I was thinking of just going for 48 hours this first time, maybe with just a sleeping bag and cover, the reason for doing this was that I was aware the accommodation got booked early. What would be the best 2 days to go? In particular, are there times when you can ride the circuit, is it Mad Sunday?
Are some of the 1,300 miles you do on the circuit?

Thanks again, always good to use the experience of someone who knows there way around.

Fasteve,
See you there mate, been the last 14 years and am still loving it, best time to be there is F1 day(sat) and mad sunday if you can only manage a coupla days. F1 day is the big bikes and will really scare the pants off you if you watch at somewhere like Rhen Cullen and on Mad Sunday the Mountain road (8 miles or so) is one way with no upper speed limit. I'll be taking my XR400 Trailie and doing the off road stuff as usual, gave up the road bike in '97, life and license expectancy was getting pretty low :D
make sure you get booked up and go you wont regret it and I'm sure as Ian will tell you "you'll be back for more" :)

Agree with Glen, first Race day and Mad Sunday weekend is best time to go if you can only do two days. You can ride the circuit whenever its open - its a public road. It tends to be quietest in the evenings after tea. Mad Sunday the roads are one way from Ramsey Hairpin to Creg Ny Baa (pub near end of mountain). There are plenty of camp sites on the Island which should have availability. Ferry return will cost £150 ish for bike and rider :( Worth it though :D

Cheers,

Ian.

Thanks guys. It seems a testament to how good it is that people go back time and again. I ll get the ferry booked. Then I have got 6 months to watch the video and look forward to it.

Not far away now!! Did you see they've cut morning practice and reduced the F1 and senior to 4 laps? Did you catch the Real TT heroes" series on men and motors? There was some good footage. I'll be doing some marshalling at Ballacrye again this year, as usual, if you've not watched there it is a superb spot.

Glen,

Missed the coverage on Men & Motors. but read the report on www.iomtt.com regarding future TTs.

Not tried viewing from Ballacry - will have to give it a go sometime.

I've watched from most of the places over the years - including - Bray Hill, Glen Vine, Hawthorn, Highlander, Ballacraine, Ballag Bridge, Glen Helen, Rhencullen, Barregarrow, Ballaugh Bridge, Quarry Bends, Sulby Straight, Parliament Square, Goose Neck, Mountain Mile, Bungalow, Keppel Gate, Creg, Hill Berry and Grandstand - starting to sound like a veteran now!

Which reminds me - only done 100 miles on the new Firestorm - must get it run in :)

Cheers,

Ian.

Glen,Did you see they've cut morning practice and reduced the F1 and senior to 4 laps?Do you know why? I hope this isn't a permanent feature for the future? :(

Matt.

Yes, it is permanant, according to the Forum they felt that 80 minutes of racing (approx) was more than enough on the big bikes, as it was still more of a test than MotoGP ;) the morning practices are to be replaced with sessions during race week I believe
