Cool

PPP is fine, whether its worth it is something only you can decide. I was happy with it until i wanted more!

Shortshift is prob not worth 300 quid.

Lights are worth it if you drive dark A roads a lot but there are cheaper alternatives.

Mail me offline if you want a greater discussion!

Done to death no doubt, but my searches haven't really helped, so...

Does anyone have experience of the Prodrive Performance Pack upgrade for MY99?

I'm considering it but it's a lot of money so I'd like to be sure it's worth it. Being a MY99, I want to keep the warranty intact on my scoob.

While they're at it I thought I might go for the short shift thingy and the driving lights conversion, any experiences of these too for this model?

On the other hand, does anyone have experience of other warranty friendly upgrades?

Cheers

Simon

Personally, upon picking the car up from ProDrive I noticed 2 things:

1. More low-down torque
2. An amazing exhaust note when your giving it some stick.

Since having it fitted less than a month ago, I've become so used to it, I can't tell the difference any more.

It IS a lot of money for what you get, but:

a. The car definitely needed an 'evil' sounding exhaust - and now I have one.
b. 220bhp > 245bhp is nice.

Trouble is, you ALWAYS want more. I'm checking out downpipes and stuff - even looking at an STI v5 or P1

Save some money and fit the Link management......
If the car is to go in for warranty, swap the ECU.......

You won`t notice much of an improvement with a quickshift on your model year.....not worth the money.
If you must have one shop about the tuning catalogues...Demon Tweeks etc.

Cool

i drove a MY99 PPP and a standard MY99 before buying my MY00.

i definitely thought the PPP car was much better for low down and mid range torque.

i'd love to add the PPP to my car but it is a lot of money and i'm considering a MY01 or Evo VI /VII.

also the quickshift i felt DID make a difference even on a MY99 / 00

i dont do much nite driving but the PIAA's seem to be the choice unless you want to change bulbs every month !!

i've got an upgraded exhaust - sebring bax box, gr8 for noise not designed or bought for any performance increases.

P1 looks gr8, sat in one at my dealer but 31.5k is a lot of cash. i prefer a 4 door car to.

Steve,

Presume you mean the Scoobysport Cibie upgrade when mentioning the lights. Well, I've had a set on my car for nearly two years now with the original bulbs still in !!
For half the price of the PIAA's I personally think they're excellent value.

Half the price?

I thought the Cibies were £200? (before fitting).

I know dealers charge £350-400 for PIAAs but that does include 2-3 hours labour. The PIAA kits can be bought for £275, and by all accounts the £75 will only cover 3 months worth of bulbs!

O.K, maybe not qiute half price, i'll conceed on that point.
Dave, so which lights do you run ? or is this just more rumour mongering again. I can speak from experience, my bulbs are the original supplied with the kit!
I'm no qualified leccy' or anything, but fitted my Cibies in under 1 hour (some of us are capable)- Seems 2 to 3 hours is well excessive to me. But then, I'm no Subaru dealer with large profit margins to maintain!!

Thumbs down

Dont get the quickshift without trying it first: It's a personal thing, but I thought it made the gearchange too "notchy", and preferred the standard action.

Lights: I went for the Scoobysports ones, original bulbs popped within hours, but warranty replacements have been OK for ages once I got them. I think the construction quality is better with the PIAA's; alloy housings instead of thin sheet steel?

Steve, see my post in Lighting & electrical, am going for PIAAs, Cibies seem to have too many problems from too many owners but will probably source them myself, and either self fit, or get a auto-sparky to do it - unless you're free??
