Nothing against either of the gentlemen in car 131 but it has always been the situation that journalists and 'celebrities' gain entries to this event when their track record suggests others on the reserve list were more deserving.
Granted, this year the entry list was not up to capacity but in previous years and in the future if applications are oversubscribed, the organisers should not seek publicity through this meants but should have the best competitors available.
I agree some of these people in the past (including a certain female comedienne) have done nothing to further the cause of the sport.
It probably will not change in the future however, as I don't think the rally will ever be up to capacity again unless the FIA or MSA decide to drop the maximum start numbers even lower than they are now.

whilst at cardiff on the thursday night for the start eith my brother, having thought all the cars had gone watching the mini leave the podium i visited the toilet in city hall for a dump. too my surprise i saw the navigator from the sun sponsored car in the foyer. on entering the toilet there was the suns deputy sports editor spewing his guts up nerves or a bug i asked myself.when i left the toilet they were mincing about just outside the doors.my brother and i then went too watch the cars come back into parc ferme and here come the pair of muppits without a care in the world the marshalls screaming at them that they were waiting for them and that they were late. im glad they took such a fantastic oportunitty so seriously well done the sun "the official rally gb paper".....

I think his point was that he didn't think they were taking themselves seriously enough, and thus not doing justice to the rally, or the people who were paying them to take part in it.
Still, I suppose it was The Sun's car. Surprised the didn't have Jo Guest co-driving...

A few facts for you.
1) I did not even visit the loo.
2) You are supposed to go to MTC 10 mins before start time - and we were actually bang on time. If you asked the organisers, they had made the mistake of making the pre-start holding area parc ferme before it was even open. So that's a cheap shot.
3) I finished 35th on a world-class rally - and I'm happy with that.

Just read your message again.
Apart from your appalling spelling, you are obviously full of s***.
We went over the start ramp ON TIME and five cars IN FRONT of the Mini - so could not have been in the loo after you had seen Mini cross start ramp.
Merry Xmas.

wizzer...... "Granted, this year the entry list was not up to capacity"
Don't suppose you'd care to tell that to those who were denied an entry because there were no spaces left?????

Who would that have been Jamie? As Wizzer says, there were only 86 crews on the final entry list, leaving four spaces spare, plus another five or six on the reserve list if necessary.
If people were denied entries, it clearly wouldn't have been because there were no spaces left.
