Got flashed at a bad speed and never heard anything. ( northern plates ) rumpler 27 November 2003, 09:47 I got pulled over and fined a few years back, no mention of points back then. At the moment GB points don't even show on an NI license so there is no way Eire points will have any effect up here. They will probably just go on you Eire driving record which has no real purpose unless you move down there (and use your driving record there) or you get banned. Remember a lot of the speed cameras are the same as GB, just cause they flash doesn't mean there is film in the camera. Andy W STI 27 November 2003, 20:26 Was in prodrive yesterday and saw one of the preped cars for this :) Hong Kong Phooey 28 November 2003, 09:20 a specially prepared prodrive car for speeding in the Republic? ...wrong thread me thinks.....;) Andy W STI 28 November 2003, 18:13 oops ah well! my00scooby 28 November 2003, 20:42 Or maybe he is in the right thread, remember that article on Top Gear where they drove the TVR (I think) so fast that the speed camera didnt register, maybe Prodrive are doing a 180mph scooby for us all! urban 02 December 2003, 16:48 Folks, I'm reliably informed that unless you are doing stupid speeds then nothing will happen. If you speed is really excessive, then they keep a record of your reg. and wait until they next stop you in the south. Happened to a friend of mine, he's was caught on camera doing 109, and was stopped again for speeding (85 on Irish M1), only then was the 109 brought up. He didn't have money for the fines, and was immediately locked in a nice wee cell for the night in Dundalk! His girlfriend had to drive down and bail him out....He was also taken to court for the 109mph! Shaun jon44w 03 December 2003, 03:41 Maybe theres a lesson to be learnt? Get the false plates on when going down south because afaik they dont have the time or ability to check them on the spot. Conor G 04 December 2003, 19:35 Yeah then we have loads of N.I. w@nkers who come down here and have absolutely no regard for the traffic laws (speeding, overtaking on bends, racing etc.) Like those two c**nts from Derry who were racing each other near Milford in Co. Donegal and killed those people and many other examples of plain stupid driving by N.I. reg car drivers which I see on a daily basis images/smilies/mad.gif [Edited by Conor G - 12/4/2003 6:38:16 PM] dup123 05 December 2003, 07:27 I looked everywhere on the map and couldnt find any place called Derry. How do you know who are NI drivers and who are Irish drivers? Do you stop them all and ask for their passports? I suggest you leave Scoobynet for a while and take you sectarian predjucises with you. Maybe when you`ve grown up and finished your GSCE`s you might be welcome here again. Conor G 05 December 2003, 18:29 Well you need to look harder at your map because the last time I looked Derry was there and it is part of N.I. And I think that the registration of the car will let me decide who are N.I. drivers and who are Republic drivers  This has absolutely nothing to do with sectarianism. Its about drivers from the north coming into the south and driving in whatever way they want because they know that there is little or no chance of them being prosecuted for traffic offences down here like they would be at home. This is then fueled further by to$$ers on a public bbs suggesting to N.I. drivers to fit false plates to their cars when going into the south so they can drive like @rseholes and hope they get away with any traffic offences. I think you're the one who needs to grow up  jon44w 05 December 2003, 20:32 I dont condone driving like an ****hole and never would. I drive fast but safe like most other mature members on this site when the conditions permit it. BEW 05 December 2003, 22:27 Conor G keep taking the pills! You think the reverse doesn't apply? Wake up and smell the coffee! I've seen plenty of southern plated cars acting the t1t too, they seem to think the 30MPH limit is the minimum speed! my00scooby 06 December 2003, 18:11 Ok lads time for a bit of calm. I think the point being made is that it shouldn't matter what side of the border you are on, that there is a huge difference between speeding where the circumstances allow and acting the a**ehole just coz you can't get hit by penalty points once outside your governments juristrictions. Speeding isn't the problem, its speeding at inappropriate times and places, eg 90-95 on a motorway on a Sunday morning with no traffic is fine, the same piece of motorway at rush hour on a weekday is just plain crazy. Just use the head when driving, simple concept. Be safe. Quadcam 12 December 2003, 23:27 well said 00scooby TheScoobyStops Here 15 December 2003, 04:30 I have to agree with what MY00Scooby sez, there are good drivers and then there are Bad drivers, from BOTH North and South! What you do next is supported by the constitution of Ireland take in your left hand and with your right hand slap it the krumple it up between you two hand in fast forwards and backward motion and then slam it in the bin!!!!! Under Irish law you can not incriminate yourself so don't sign the piece of paper. Murfs |
