Any supermoto riders out there have any suggestions for tyres.
I run a LC4 and have used Pirelli MT60s since new. Great tyres but I'd like a little more than 2k from the rear.

Avon's pro series wets look great but will probably last no time at all. A combination of the MT60 and something more durable on the back would be ideal. Any successful combinations?

if you want more than 2k from a rear tyre, then I wouldn't put it on a motard...

not sure if the LC4 has a cush drive or not, but my old CCM didn't have one and that was the principal reason for it eating rear tyres...

No cush drive. You're probably right. There's no point putting Z rated stuff on it - they'd never get warm enough. getting a size/profile to match the MT60 front might be difficult too.

Just wondered if anyone had tried anything different

Stay with H rated tyres, and get part worn race tyres
KR364 are the dogs although 'NOT FOR HIGHWAY USE' :)

Currently using Tomahawks (soft front, medium rear) on my XR650. I was using Rennsports which, although grippy, took a few miles to warm up. They also wore quickly, from new to worn in 850 miles!!

The Tomahawks warm up quickly, and grip very well all the time, especially the front. As the front is a different profile from the Rennsport, it felt funny at first, but not now.. I now wish that I fitted a race wet on the front instead, as the Wet front/Tomahawk rear is a highly recommended combination.

Get yourself over to www.supermotard.co.uk and look at the advice there.

Hi Simon, have you seen the latest Supermoto Magazine?I guess not.

Anyway, theyve done an ultimate SM tyre test based on a 640 LC4.

On their recommendation im gonna go for Maxis Goldspeeds or Avon Azaro-SP Pro-Xtremes for my 660.Cheers Si.
