The corner of the bedroom had a cable running down it and of course when i pulled it out it off it pulled the plaster abit. So I filled it but some of the filler didn't take as i don't think i mixed it properly.

Anyway dug it all out, cleaned it up and put in some ready mixed polycell stuff. Left it to dry over night then sanded it smooth, hoovered all the dust off and wiped it down.

Then went to put on some wall emulsion and 2 days later some parts are still not even touch dry. Whats going on, emulsion should be dry in a few hours. Now its been raining outside so the air will be damp has this got anything to do with it ???

Never seen this problem before in any other parts of the room

How deep was the filler? Either moisture is still coming through from the filler or the wall might be damp

5mm thick maximum. The filler was dry when i sanded it

Had this happen once - though I hadn't used any filler - had just removed wallpaper.

No obvious signs of damp. Wiped off all paint, then applied watered down PVA (follow instructions on tin for sealing new plaster). Once that had dried, paint went on fine. Still none the wiser!

just had a thought wonder if its something to do with the paste. As the brush I used I have also used in the past for applying paste to wallpaper where the corners have lifted. I obviously washed it after but maybe some residue remained.

its an idea anyway.

Paint has dried now and applied another coat with a different brush and all seems fine
