I want an MP3 player, but when I burn MP3 discs, the software orders the tracks by the alphabet and then includes a playlist on the disc. Can MP3 headunits read a playlist?
Also, anyone know of a cheap (ie £200/£300) MP3 and changer combo (don't want really crap - must be a bit better than goodmans...).
Anyone got any views on car MP3 units?

use real one player to save the mp3 tracks it also names artist and album info if on the net when you record
i found the cheeper mp3 did not play all formats some worked some didnt i ended up getting a dvd player!!
try befor you buy and on line is always cheeper by far

Sony CDXT70MX 6-disc MP3 changer is £156 and the CDXMP40 head unit is £125 at MCS Direct (http://www.mcs-direct.co.uk/). That's probably about as cheap as you will find a CD/MP3/changer package.
I've found that MP3 files are always read in alphabetic order so if you want to play albums in a certain order you would need to prefix the name with 01-, 02-, 03- etc.

why don't you get a cd/mp3 head unit, and a nornal CD changer? if you have a disk with 10 hrs on it, it won't be changed very often!!

What software are you using? I have had similar problems burning CD-Rs with CD-text. It depends how you set up the session(s) for burning.
Are you sure they're in the wrong order on the CD-R? Windows does like to order files alphabetically when opening/exploring folders.
IMO an MP3 player shouldn't work solely with the filenames. It should read and display ID3 tags if present. With the number of tracks and folders you can stuff on a CD-R, it should also allow folder navigation and support playlists.
I'd take a CD-R along to Halfords etc. and have a play.

Yeah that sounds a good idea... I've tried using Musicmatch Jukebox which is miles better than Nero or the burn facility in Windows Media Player

Try FreeRip - does what it says on the box - can rip to MP3 and has autofill feature (subject to internet connection) to complete track names etc etc. Works fine on my Pioneer unit.

r u using Windows Media Player ver 9.0 , if not you may find that better?

I use CDex (http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/) which has CDDB, ID3v1 & v2 tags, loads of other features but best of all it's free
