Seriously considering it, either Monte or save for a special Sweden.

Don't really know what kind of costs are involved for the Monte, I suppose it's as expensive as you want to make it?

What was last year like for you and did you go to any other rounds?

I've been to Spain a couple of times, they've spoiled that now though! Fookin FIA.

Everybody I have spoken to has raved on about Sweden and most importantly they have said they would definitely go back.

Monte was fantastic last year - got to the shakedown and over half the stages - being 5000ft up the Col de Turini was just magic. Got some help in that I have worked on the WRC TV crew as camera assistant on and off so got roadbooks and stuff but rally is easy to get around on. Menton was only 30 euros a night and got flight for £50 return as well. Weather by coast is usually mild but goes below freezing in the Alps.

Best fun is watching the locals driving - regularly passed 205s and motorhomes in ditches and walls.

Good party in Stars and Bars on the Sunday too with most of the drivers and even Prince Albert last year.

Went to Turkey and Corsica last year as well as Indianapolis for the GP - reckon I should get my own travel comp going although the Rally Travel boys are very good too!

What do you do now Neil, still trying to get on the WRC scene?

Monte isn't as bad as you think. We've booked up to go again in January. Flights to Nice were about £40 each return. Basic 2/3 star hotel (in Monte Carlo) including car hire and an extra night in the hotel was roughly £170 per person, if my memory serves me right. You can do it for less if you fly down on the Friday and fly back Sunday night.

Eating out is as expensive as you want to make it. You can go and sit in Casino Square and pay £6 for a pint of lager, or you can go to anyone of a number of cafes / pizza houses / restaurants and pay considerably less than you would in central London.

Pre-requisite before booking into hotel is to take your hire car for a few laps of the F1 circuit :)

I mean, who in their right mind would want to sit in Casino Square drinking £6 pints all afternoon awaiting the opening ceremony... ;)

Thinking about going next year again - And actually staying till the end this time... :D

Any of the rest of last years gang going?

Cheers,

Ross.

Errr...I had my tongue in cheek, hence the ';)'...

I was actually there last year, and spent the whole afternoon drinking £6 pints at the bar, with the usual suspects... :D
