well it may be a bit warmer but its not the closing rally which is a bit boring! and the closing rally is in Australia so we would have to travel a bit plus the conditions are dry so there are less cars going off

I don't think it will as popular as this year, cos this year it was the title decider and plus the british rally has to be in winter! It won't be the same! :)

It just won't be the same, and anyway the weather can be just as diabolical anytime in GB can remember it snowing in June! At least in Nov even if like the last 2 years its dry, its still not very dusty.

Trouble is when an any event changes date lots of people find themselves unable to go due to other commitments, said it before I for one will be gutted if I can't go.

I wonder whether anyone has considered the real possibility of forest fire, all stages in daylight, the remaining tourist traffic-it's gonna be a nightmare. I expect a lot of rally fans will be on holiday etc then as well. Podium ceremony in broad daylight....do me a favour:rolleyes: :D

I know someone in the forestry commision and he says that a forest fire is a big possabillity with it probably being dry and campers over night having fires I agree

i don't know why the talk of forest fire.......
There are a lot bloody warmer countries...ie. Greece,Cyprus where the temperatures reach the 40 degrees mark....... we are talking Wales arn't we........

True but there are more fires aroun here because it is colder than other countries, its just a possibillity though if it happens it happens I suppose.

The date change itself isn't problem, losing the prestige of
being the last event in the calendar not so good though.

Cheers

Forest fires? If we have a summer like this year you can virtually guarantee a fire! People with fag ends, camp fires, and god forbid a rally car crashing out.

Mind you, there's plenty of other forest events every september in the Uk, and I dont' recall a fire yet.

However - with 150,000 speccies, who knows what could happen?

(by the way who's stupid idea was moving it to September anyway?)

180,000 spectators next year apparently!

As for whose idea it was, difficult to say for certain, as the topic of "moving the Rally GB earlier in the year" has been popping up every couple of years since I've been following the sport, and I daresay earlier than that too. Was only a matter of time before they tried it. Suppose you've got the FIA to thank as much as anyone else.

As for the change in date:

This should sort the traffice queues out for next year anyway
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/world_rally/3281805.stm

The warmer weather and lighter mornings/nights will be welcomed by most.

One negative though: trees, yup trees, the one that has a leaf on it but drop at the end of the year, in sept they will still be on the trees, hence restricting some veiwing!!!!
