anyone know how far behind the little mini was in the end? I heard he was an hour and a half behind Petter after day 2, but I don't know his final time! Also is it true he won't be allowed to run next year?

They were 2 hours 59 minutes behind Petter. The order of the day was getting to the finish at any cost I think (self preservation lol) as it was a farewell to the Mini on international events.

Hiya

Yes, the Mini Preservation Society was in full operation - that did not stop us having fun though ;)

We have post posted here: http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?threadid=269838&Page=2

I have a little movie of mildred on Rhondda two from Sunday (complete with my dulcet tones of "go on" in the background, I forgot that the camera had a sensative microphone!)

Only I have no idea how to upload this or where to send it to! I will post this on the other thread too, and if someone can tell me how I will send it on - 2.43mb is the size I will attempt...

Some of these replies still bring a tear to the eye :S

If you can email it to me at neil.burgess@manicminis.com that would be fab :D

Thank you all!

Neil, well done mate.

Having run a mini (8 port) for a couple of seasons, i can appreciate how difficult the stages will have been.

Again well done.

Tim.

Once again Mr Burgess, as an Imp owner/driver I don't often openly praise the Imp's rival, the mini, but I have to say, the spirit of the rally award has to go to you guys.

Fantastic achievement, and just look at how many cars you beat (i.e. all those that didn't finish). Well over half the field beaten by a car designed in the 50s!

Cracking result.

Nice article in Motorsport News too.

Well done Neil and Jim. I'm glad that there's so much interest in this magnificent achievement.

I have very happy memories of being part of the service crew. No matter what was wrong with the Mini, we fixed it.

For me, the toughest part of the whole event was the last stage through Margam Park. The tension couldn't have been any higher. The whole team were waiting for a message, to let us know that the Mini had safely reached the end of the stage. That message seemed to take forever.

What's the thing to the left of the Motorsport News sticker on the bonnet?

The thing to the left of the Motorsport News sticker is the socket for the lamp pod wiring harness. The part you can see is the cover that sits on top of the socket.

If you look very carefully, you will also see two small bolt-holes on the top of the bonnet. These are used to bolt the lamp pod on. The other two bolt holes are at the front of the bonnet (not easy to see on a photo).
