Could anyone please recommend some good quality speakers to be used front and rear in a MY99 Type R? Also how is the quality of subs affected by having them behind the rear bulkhead??
Thanks in advance

Don't bother with rears, and remove anything there so subs can play through the holes that are there. Helps sub bass a little :D

I've just some 6" Infinity's put into my MY99 Type R, front and rear. No amp, just a Kenwood M7024 (4x50) and I'm very pleased with the way it sounds now.

Boston Accoustics 6.5 Pro's!
£450 retail - but can get them around £300 mark if you look around. Listen before you buy (its a must!) At the end of the day its down to how much you want to spend. Also mate dont forget to sound proof ya doors!(it makes a world of difference)

Loads of Topic Headings on this one
Go for the Focals!! for value for money
Only issue with removing rear speakers is that when you havent got the system on all you can hear are the rattles in the boot - cos its so flimsey
You'll need a good amp to drive the focals...... but you'll need that anyway for the Subs
I'd just go for front Focals and rear 6*9 Focals and a 4 channel Gensis Amp - the Subs weigh the car down, make the overall hadling poorer, damage yours ears big time, eliminate the use of the Boot space - as you'll really need 2*12 inch subs to get through to the Front...... you'll then need a decent amp alone for the Subs - a Farad Capacitor - loads of Dynamat in the Boot - I could go on........
Take the cheaper option first!!!!!!

Do 6.5" speakers fit straight into the doors on the Impreza or do they need spacers and lots of pi55ing about? I want to put some speakers in my doors, also will the tweeters fit behind the grills in the door handles?

i made some custom MDF spacers. I'd recommend you do the same. its makes such a difference to the sound. Use 18mm MDF and trim the top down to approx 6mm grading up to 18mm at the bottom. Oh yeah remember mate the scooby doors lwt water in, so I silicon sealed the spacers (to protect them from the water) also silicon sealed the spacer to the doors after i screwed them on. Have fun. Easy to make. Re the tweeters - I made some more MDF small brackets and silicon sealed them too. Pukka.
