I was annoyed to find out that SOME marshals came from England to obviosly marshal the rally and and they stayed over on Thursday night, my Partner was trying to sleep in his car next to them and all they did was let off fireworks til the early hours then during the rally it's self just sat in thier van they did not get out the whole time.

Now forgive me if im wrong but arnt marshal's supposed to be there to make sure everything runs smoothly and safely? How can you do that if you are sat in a van.

It just seems to me there were there to watch the rally for free and not do any work!

It just annoys me that you get the genuine ones there having to do twice the work because the lazy t**ts cant be bothered to get off thier arses and do any work.

If your partner got their names, or even one of their names, he should report them to the MSA. If this is how they act, they shouldn't be members of the marshalling scheme.

It was the radio cars friends so all he has to do is report which post he was at as they have a record of who was at each post!

Indeed, and please make sure he does report them. These are precisely the last people who the MSA, other, proper marshals, the competitors, and indeed the spectators want to see wearing tabards.

Puts us all to shame i know - I tried really hard this year and was the "friendly face of motorsport".... had some good chats with the speccies, and only had a minor fracas with a french bloke who just wouldn't listen to what I was telling him (tried to cross a box junction and walk around the outside of a bend along the stage! I was so friendly I even sacrificed my event whistle to a girl who complained it was too loud ("thats hurting my ears, can I have it?!?"!

Best year I've ever done! ;)

I was the sector official on this post and yes they bloody annoyed me too!
J13 Rheola?
After numerous attempts to wake them up in the Morning I gave up.
As it happened the point was not that busy so myself and the other marshals with me thought it best to avoid an argument and a spoiled day so we left it alone and they will be reported to the Stage Commander tommorrow.
It ruins it for all the other marshals when people do this, to make things worse they didn't even seem interested in watching at all?

If they aren't interested in marshalling or even watching the rally what on earth are they doing there?

Anyone thought if they could be responsible for the car break-ins on the Rheola stage?

Just a thought!!!!!

I was marshalling at post 6 of Rheola on friday and it really annoys me to think that so called marshals can behave in such a manner.

I have been following rallying for the last 31 years now first as a spectator and for the last 20 years as a marshal, I have dedicated substantial time;effort and enthusiasum to the sport and firmly believe in the fact that without the dedication of the marshals who voluntarily give thier services and equipement then the rallies could not go ahead.

We all must do our utmost to stamp out the freeloaders who are not prepared to perform the duties that they have volunteered themselves to do.

Therefore if anyone knows the names of the offenders then can they please report them to the MSA so that they can be delt with in the appropriate manner as this puts a bad light on the rest of us dedicated marshals.

On a final note to all spectators out there, we do aim to be as polite and pleasant as possible to all of you and in as much as we can we try not to spoil your day, however please be aware that we must act under the specific instructions of the FIA & MSA rules with regard to your safety and whereabouts so please try not to take it personally if asked to move to a safer location as we must put your safety as our FIRST priority. Some of us have been doing this for a long time and have seen some horrendous incidents that we do not wish to repeat, it is not pleasant attending an accident with a spectator that is severely injured or worse DEAD. I have learned one thing over the years and that is to expect the unexpected so please remember we are there for your safety.

Thank you all and enjoy your future rallying.

Did they manage to get their licence signed by the sector official?
Maybe he (or she ;-) noted their names and numbers?

They did not ask me to sign thier licenses so I can only assume they were signed at signing on.
I will be seeing the Deputy Stage Commander and probably the stage Commander later on today and this issue will be mentioned. If I have to go through the signing on cards myself I will do it.

What disgraceful behavior :( I have marshalled rally gb in the past and you don't behave this way, I mean getting up after the first car had gone through

On a lighter note!!

I and the guy standing next to me on Resolfen 1 SS5 were remarking on the fact that the advertising contractors had placed their "inmarsat" signage halfway across the stage, when along came the Sturmfhurer in the advance party Range Rover and told them to remove it.

They lifted it out of the ground - waited for the Range Rover to depart along the stage and then carefully placed it back, EXACTLY where they had taken it from!

No drivers collided with the sign and in fact it seemed to make for a tighter corner - and pleased the advertiser's no doubt!
