Unfortunately its true, Ian. If it were a rumour its a bad one as his competition license will be in jeapordy due to blacking out. The MSA et al will be keen to hear what caused it, I suppose.

No I mean the reason he fainted , I know someone who is a nurse at the clinic where he was , I have been told his condition is serious , I hope for his sake its not true .

Personally I can't stick him and don't deny that but I wouldn't wish him ill, get well soon Richard:)

So if there's a spare seat a Subaru, I know this Scottish chap....

I think his condition was a bit more serious than first reported.
He was reported as fainting, but was kept in hospital for 2 nights. Peugeot also applied to replace him the following morning - which seems a bit premature when no-one knew what was wrong with him.

He doesn't need to do the recce in the rules. So he had until Thursday to make a recovery ----- from a fainting.

Reports published elsewhere say he was taken to Cardiff where he received a scan and saw a neurosurgeon.

Let's hope they are just being 100% cautious and it's not as bad as it sounds. Fingers crossed for a good outcome.

No one seems to have picked up on the fact that Markko Martin was in the passenger seat with Burns when he collapsed. Good job he was with him otherwise he would have probably been in a far worse state than he is now.

Well done Markko for your quick reactions.

Any loss of consciousness is treated very seriously by the DVLA, and therefore I would assume moreso by the FIA/WRC/whoever.

Most people would not be kept in hospital for 2 nights and have brain scans if they had just "fainted". Obviously privately you can request these things if you so desire, so perhaps everyone is just being cautious.

However, something more serious like perhaps a seizure would warrant brain scans etc. Unless very good mitigating circumstances, a seizure would normally warrant an immediate & mandatory 1 year ban by the DVLA from holding a UK driving licence. I would assume it would also mean withdrawal of a racing licence, as I am sure you would fail a medical for a racing licence if a seizure was suffered in the preceding 12 months (perhaps longer).

Worrying times for Burns if it is serious. However, I am sure it is in his best interests, however harsh it may seem.
