For all you newcomers out there here is an explanation of the Smartie phenomenon.

Each Smartie colour has a meaning and if you want to know something you shake the tube, ask the question and shake out a Smartie which will give you the answer....

Good Smarties - Red, Pink, Orange, Yellow
Bad Smarites - Brown, Blue, Green
Stumper Smartie - Purple (could go either way with that one!)

You know what they say "Only Smarties have the answer" and it's true we've correctly predicted the outcome to championships with a packet of Smarties and you can ask 'em anything although simple Yes/No questions work best.

More importantly Smarties have somehow come to represent us Forum Members at the rally, they've been adopted as a sort of 'cult symbol' we're gonna get 'em out there and get 'em noticed, you don't have to really know the technical stuff you just gotta get out there with ya Smarties, shake 'em about and be seen!

....and yes all Smarties acceptable, small tubes, big tubes, boxes and Giant Smarties.

Enjoy!!!

Maybe we could start a campain to get sponsorship for Colin, can see the headlines now:-

'SMARTIES TO SPONSOR COLIN MCRAE IN MULTI MILLION POUND DEAL'
Following the phenomenal success of 'smartie's' on last years Rally GB (2003), Nestle have announced that they will be sponsoring Colin Mcrae for the whole of the 2004 rally season!

Lise who started the 'smartie' phenomenon, was very modest when interviewed by Ch4 news and said "it started as a bit of a joke really but it took off in a big big way. It was amazing every where you looked in the forests, people shaking their smarties".

went to buy my young 'un some smarties today, but local shops all sold out! Does this mean I've got to go to rally to see if I can can scrounge some there. Sleep in cold car, queue half hour for tepid cup of tea and burnt beefburger, stand in pouring rain and howling gale for ten second glimpse of Colin [leading rally] stuck in traffic jam to get to next stage, 3 mile hike 'cause the bloody car park is full, another ten second glimpse of Colin, quick sprint to service only to be told car park is full, spend dreary night in Cardiff, can't drink cause I'm driving, drive up to Halfway and change out of sopping wet clothes to spend another nite in car with fellow travellors who have been drinking and eating curries. Can't sleep because of fireworks and wind [both natural & human]. Getup at 5AM and start all over again. Roll on
Thursday night!!!

Be the first to greet me with my user name on any of the stages I'm marshalling this weekend and I've a tube of smarties to give away (while stocks last, subject to status, terms and conditions apply!). Catch me at SS3, SS13 and SS18. I picked up a smarties four pack from Asda last night so the fourth has got your young'uns name on it if you can find me!
