Wondered if anyone had experienced this before...

Driving home last night, hit a reasonably sized puddle.. about half way throu, got this sounds that was dis-similar to the sounds of a flat tyre, you know, thud thud thud thud thud..etc.. from the rear...

After a short distance it went away... any ideas what it may have been?? Dry suspension joint or the like??

Please advise.

Sometimes you can get a stone in the alloys that thuds away for a while. If not too loud maybe a hedgehog??
I'll away for my dinner.

It might have been a fish thrashing about - I hope it wasn't a trout

Sounds like you may have got a stone stuck in the brake caliper. Usually doesn't do any damage and drops out on its own, so nothing to worry about.

Have you replaced the struts or springs recently?

The reason I mentioned that was I have had that happen both my Subaru's and my friends Subaru after modifing the suspension.

What the problem is, is the bushes in the top hats in the rear struts fail and you end up with metal hitting metal.

This causes squeeking when cold. Banging and clonking from the rear end.

What they do to remidy is replace with nolathane bushes.
