Some advice please about my central heating, the system is 5 years old and has now failed totally. A plumber has examined the system which uses plastic micro bore piping which is hidden behind plasterboard to reach the downstairs rads, and found that the system was never filled with inhibitor from new resulting in all but one radiator and large parts of pipework becoming blocked with black crap which i suppose is the insides of my radiators,he changed the pump because that was clogged also. This sounds like a potential new system to me but i'm clutching at straws, can i add a chemical to the system that will break the deposits down, then try to rod the pipes clear and flush my radiators? Please help its cold in here!

You will need to get the system flushed out. Something like this (http://www.combifix.co.uk/clearflow_power_flushing.htm). Sounds like its gone to far to just pour in chemicals lone. You can do flushing with a normal hose pipe and mains pressure but its mesy and no way as good as getting the pros to do it.

From what you have described the heating system will probably be ok if it is jetflushed (like the link above), we generally charge about £350 for a system like yours.

Dont forget to put inhibitor in the system now to stop it happening again.
The good (http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=79683&ts=01067) or the cheap (http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=13162&ts=01155).

Sounds like I need the same thing
I replaced all rads and pump but it still needs a good clear-out.
How much was it to hire Paul? Or does anyone know a decent plumber near Derby? ;)
