Kiwi Boyd 11 January 2003, 15:03 so there............thats all of got to say about that [Edited by Kiwi Boyd - 11/1/2003 2:07:23 PM] harrybb 30 October 2003, 19:40 I'm on the Brechfa stage on Friday morning. Will be there overnight. I was wondering if there are any people who would be willing to make a load of banners showing support for Colin McRae? Dont know why in God's name the WRC are allowing themselves to losse him? I think a few "We want Colin to stay" and "Colin for the WRC" might arract the TV cameras and get people complaining to the FIA!!!!! Thoughts??? SeventySix 30 October 2003, 19:44 I wonder if Codemasters signed a long term deal? harrybb 30 October 2003, 19:50 Yeah, maybe we'll get Colin McRae Rally Raid!!! Or Colin McRae ASCAR Challenge rallymad_homer 30 October 2003, 19:59 sounds good to me harry. come on Mcrea !!!! nockers 30 October 2003, 20:46 thats the way, lets show how much Mcrae will be missed. Senior Marshal 30 October 2003, 21:12 McCrae should get codemasters to sponser him and run his own team for a season - team codemasters!!!!! They could develop a Robin Reliant WRC 3 wheel drive!!!!!!! ;) On a serious note - would be a shame for Colin to go, but he has made plenty out of it in the past, and he seems to be lagging a bit this year, so it may well be time to step aside. harrybb 30 October 2003, 21:32 Yeah! I reckon if people going to Brechfa get a Union Jack and either paint or use black tape to write on it! Would be good, might attract the Channel 4 heli! If your up on the stage, mine will the The Land Rover Disco, with Union Flags hanging off it. Come say hi! [Edited by harrybb - 10/30/2003 8:33:22 PM] mancanproudevo 30 October 2003, 22:01 Get him back with Subaru............it just seems right doesnt it ?? patty 31 October 2003, 00:23 well il have my st. andrews flag with me, thats my show of support. if that sounds biggited in any-way its certainly not ment that way. think colin is an amazin driver & will be a great loss to the sport :( blan 31 October 2003, 00:33 colin used to be my idle a few years ago he lost a rally and blamed it on the fans for been on the road, it always seems to be someone else,s fault with this guy eg ,rally fans or nicky grist so come on carlos patty 31 October 2003, 00:40 yeah the nicky grist thing pissed me off, personaly dont think he has been quite 100% without him. i praise the guy on his driving skills, even if theres a possibility he might be a bit of a prik in reality. [Edited by patty - 10/30/2003 11:51:44 PM] nuggs 31 October 2003, 10:32 IMHO Mcrae's arrogance is currently bigger than his talent in the sport, he's been a great driver, and to a certain extent still is but at the moment he is the top paid driver in the wrc and look where he is in the championship. I'll still be supporting Mcrae on the Q but maybe he hasn't got what he used to have. rob h 31 October 2003, 12:20 just wanted to say to any Mcrae fans.... i have been spectating and competing for 24 years and i have followed all colin's career and some of his father's too, and to witness colin in full flight is something very special, anyone who was at the "RAC" in 95 will know what i mean!, it is very sad to think he wont be there next year,he has been an inspiration to thousand's and an ambassador for british rallying! let's get behind him and send him off in true rallying style!GO COLIN GO!!!! Turves 31 October 2003, 12:30 Damn right! I was there in '95, and stood in Crychan forest near the finish on day 3, there was a slight left kink into a K-right, Sainz braked, McRae never lifted!!! That days rallying was the best fightback i've seen live. As some of you have said though he has lost it a bit. On BBC Sport website he's stated as saying he's taking a sabatical next year, which is a shame, but hopefully it'll kick him back into gear, but my support will be out there. Would be nice to see some support for Alastair Ginley too. rob h 31 October 2003, 13:52 where are all you Mcrae fans ? you can't all have such short memories. would you rather watch colin "PEDAL TO THE METAL" or boring burnsie gathering points and "keeping it tidy",robert reid must have perfected his knitting by now!........................... ........COME ON COLIN!!!!!!! Angelos 31 October 2003, 13:59 Hi from Greece, it’s really sad that Colin will not be in WRC next year. I would like to express ma support to him and all his fans an anyway you choose. If you will have any banners supporting him during the Wales Rally please write on any of these banners that Greek fans are with him. Honestly, my opinion, is that “they” don’t want him in the WRC because he costs too much money. Considering that many drivers will be unemployed next year because of the new rules, there will not be any drivers like Colin to beat the drivers that “they” will keep. If someone has to leave WRC, for sure, MUST NOT BE Colin! Angelos from Greece, place that Colin won 5 times the Acropolis, one of the toughest rallies! rob h 31 October 2003, 14:15 hi Angelos, thank's for that, pity you can't be here to watch his last rally but anyway , i will have a banner saying GO COLIN GO and i will put hello greece on it for you !!!! tucker101uk 31 October 2003, 14:20 I think that team mcrae should go ahead - him and his bro ally - a privately entered team would be excellent - challenging the big manufacturers for the WRC title! and i reckon they could maybe do it!!! would be well sweet!!! Cmon Team Mcrae!!! Ronald MacDonald 31 October 2003, 14:22 McRae has been a top driver, but his time has been and gone. If you're making flags, do not use the Union Jack in honour of SCOTLANDS finest, use the St Andrews flag - after all he can't bring himself to put the Union Jack on his car can he??? rob h 31 October 2003, 14:44 hey Ronald how old do you think Colin is then ?, how old is carlos? correct me if i'm wrong but is'nt Colin still the most successful driver in terms of WRC win's,and britains first ever world rally champion (not won by default). and if i choose to wave a union jack it's because it's british... not welsh, not scottish, not irish, not english...but a union of all these isles.... get it ?....union,jack. and you think Colin's past it !!!! Angelos 31 October 2003, 14:45 Rob h, really thanks! This will be fine. Also, if is possible, please send me a photo of that because we can’t watch Eurosport in Greece. Thanks again, Angelos Turves 31 October 2003, 14:49 Good call Rob! By the way, I wasnt saying McRae's past it, I just thinks he needs to find a way of getting back to his best, and, it unfortunately looks like he's being forced to take a break to do it. Lets hope he's back in 2005 and bang on it, cos there aint nothin better than Mac at full chat... and Angelos, I hope you will have just a small amount of pity for us, cos for sure its gonna be warmer where you are!!! [Edited by Turves - 10/31/2003 1:52:55 PM] rob h 31 October 2003, 15:20 thank's Turves, take your air horn's everyone and let Colin know how much we appreciate what he has done for british rallying....... ...... and could have died doing it!!. "AVE IT". Angelos, i will email a couple of pics to you after the rally, ok ? Angelos 31 October 2003, 15:37 Rob h thanks again. Can't wait for that. And, Turves, you can bet it is warm here! Today the temperature is 24 Celsius, but yesterday it was raining. [Edited by Angelos - 10/31/2003 2:39:15 PM] Turves 31 October 2003, 15:52 Yesterday it was raining...! BUMMER!!! The way its here been this week we'll be sinking by the time the rally starts! At least you have warm rain! Lets really get behind Col next weekend, he's kept us all entertained over the years, and reading various websites this week he's going for it in Wales. Bring it on. By the way, i've mentioned on a couple of other threads, if anyone is staying in Cardiff over the weekend and fancies meeting up any of the nights for a couple of beers, gimme a shout. I'm there from Wednesday until (currently) Sunday. Angelos 31 October 2003, 16:03 Lucky boy! gareth_206 31 October 2003, 18:44 Remember 3 years ago (2000) when McRae didn't have that good a season, he was flying on the network-q until stage 12 when he crashed out in Rheola! McRae all the way (and solberg second so he takes the championship)!! janacorn 31 October 2003, 18:44 Be real sad if he doesn't race next year he has got to be the most exciting driver to watch all or nothing, awsome! [Edited by janacorn - 10/31/2003 5:45:38 PM] harrybb 31 October 2003, 18:49 Now now! Stop with the flag thing!!!! This is supposed to unite us! You may not like Colin, but its a damn sure thing that half of you wouldnt be here unless he'd put this sport on the map! Think about it. If he's going lets give him a send off! Cheers [Edited by harrybb - 10/31/2003 5:55:24 PM] [Edited by harrybb - 10/31/2003 5:55:57 PM] |
