Vale Motors in Yeovil went into receivership yesterday. A few weeks ago they lost their new car side of the Suabru business but could still do Subaru servicing, now (probably unrelated to the Subaru thing) the whole company is closing, including their Wincanton based Hyundai/Proton garage.

Great shame as they were a good garage and the Subaru mechanics I knew were very good.

Ok, so now to list the subaru dealers who have and "are" closing.
I am trying my best to make this available to all the Scoobynetters and easy to read without silly comments or simply suggestions.

Osbournes - Essex
Greenways - Norwich
A & J Whites - Blackburn - no Longer dealer, but will service.
Lancaster - Sevenoaks
lancaster - Reading
Chapelgate - Dorset
Mill Lane Engineering - Basingstoke
Heritage - Leicester
Cutlers - Streetly - New dealer in Kingstanding [Midland Subaru]
Beechdale - Nottingham

Any more to add to the list ??

Subaru must think they`ve saturated southern england judging by that list, hope it doesn`t happen up here, there`s only 2 dealers within about 70 miles!

Beechdale Nottingham closing is sort of right and sort of wrong. Beechdale are consolidating into Derby. So I would not say Beechdale are closing !

Took mine into Oakley this morning for a service to find they're no longer a Subaru dealer and are awaiting a new francaise. Something to do with them not signing the new Subaru agreement because they wanted to query some points they were not happy with. Before the new it they had the Subaru guy on the phone saying, nope you've lost the francaise.

What the f^%k is going on, why is this happening does anyone know?

dh,

I knew that they were going for the Isuzu Franchise as well...but when I spoke to Brian he said that they would also remain a Subaru dealer....so something must have gone serious tits up! Went round there at the weekend and there were zero cars to be seen anywhere just a cabinet that had STi Jackets in...so I assumed that they had closed!?!?!?!

it will be reopening not that soon though as i believe it has only 1 service bay at the moment and they plan on building 4 more. they also went down to oakley today to buy up stuff to go in our workshop and they are building a brand new dealership at gerards cross down london way. they also tried to buy a dealership in bedford i think but that was sold to build houses on.
they have very high standards so only expect the best as at the minute they own amersham audi. a very successful dealership so im told

Spoke to the guy in the parts deparment at Oakley Garage and he told me that Subaru wanted more out of them and I think Brian, said no and they parted company, but you can still get your car serviced there.:(

So CCV have sold the garage. Must say I'm very surprised as when I was a regular customer in the late 90's I always thought it was a very close team & a 'family' owned business. Are you able to say why they decided to sell?

What will happen to the long term people in sales, service & parts?

A general comment: are we now going to see more & more vauxhall garages becoming dual franchises now that GM have a major share in Fuji Industries who make Subaru & Isuzu? This has jut happened up here in Scotland in Glasgow!!

yes nigel sold ccv but still owns the land so he is now our landlord. he sold it so he says in everyones interest he had looked at all the options including closing it down but decided that a new younger owner would be able to put us back on top again and take it in a new direction.
every one is still there but peter left about a year ago now and im the last of the four techs that were there when you were in for servicing. there are still only 2 techs but hopefully we will be getting a new one soon. every one else like derek, rod, john etc are still there allthough derek wants to retire next year. come back and see us all sometime!

"Big Den".
As far as I was aware, GM only had a 10% holding in Fuji Heavy industries, as that allowed them to cop for the rebadges trooper in monterey form.
But as for dealers in your part of the country, any chance of an update on the "closed/closing" list ?
I would appreciate it, so we can let all the other "netters" know who they can still contact and visit.
many thanks in advance.
Steve.

As far as Aird goes, they are still doing servicing to my knowledge. What's known as an Authorised Repairer under BER. Same thing happened at Eaglesham, whoi were local to me. Am going to give Halleys a try next service.

I know of at least one specialist who is well known on this BBS that is applying for Authorised Repairer Status

Herritage in Leicester is not one of the dealers being closed, i am reliably informed :D

it is all to do with subau uk forcing the dealers all have an official facelift and it's costing dealers a huge amount of money, hence lots of them are refusing to comply, hence no longer staying as subaru dealers. Can't tell u anymore

luckily for me leicester is staying as a dealer :D

this is from a reliable source, but sorry, cannot say who :p

ARM-Scooby
