Question

Can anyone let me know how to get my late 94 WRX delimited. It has a cable speedo. Can an electrical gizmo be fitted to fool the ECU or am I stuck with 112mph?

Cool

Howdy

U require a mechanical speed converter...

These are small gearbox units you fit inline of the speedo cable...

Some seem to be cheap and crap.. so shop about.

An electrical is no use to you.

I got one from Graham Goode Racing. Was pretty expensive: about £150 but well worth it, has never let me down.

When J says cheap and crap, he probably means look cheap and crap, but cost loads LOL

You will definitely need a mechanical one though, try a few of the importers, they should be able to supply and fit as well ?

Question

I went with a friend of mine to view a 95 wrx at the weekend, the car was de limited (i saw a receipt for the work which had been done), the car was clocking up in km and the speedo goes off the clock on the motorway, i presume from this that the speedo cable is original i.e kmh, but there must be some sort of electronic gadget?

Remember that the gearbox will also change your speedo reading to MPH, so a small MPH sticker to cover the KPH will also be required, it may be worth having it done by a company that fits these as they can wind back the odometer to give miles instead of kilometers. Plus you get a nice certificate to show that they've wound back the odo, for whatever thats worth.
