View Full Version : How do I get BluTak out of my passenger seat? ScoobyDoo555 10 October 2003, 13:40 Somebody's sat BluTak into my MY99 seat :( Any suggestions on how to remove it? Cheers, Dan ScoobyDoo555 10 October 2003, 13:54 anybody? :( Richard Askew 10 October 2003, 14:05 Dan - I have a feeling blutak only comes off fabric easily when its frozen :( WRX-Mark 10 October 2003, 15:44 Freezing it is the way to go- bag with ice cubes ... Adam M 10 October 2003, 15:52 or you could go to my friend phil in southend on sea who is a car valeter and has frozen stuff out of the setas in my golf before. Aintbroke dontfix 10 October 2003, 15:54 I had the same with cheewing gum. Use plumbers pipe freeze if bag of ice doesn't work. Worked for me but use the edge of a spoon to scrape off as the material is v/brittle when frozen, a knife is to sharp. ScoobyDoo555 10 October 2003, 16:16 Thanks guys :) Based in Middle-Earth, so Southend's a bit too far to go!! :) Cheers anyway :) Will let you know how I get on :) Dan Dr Hu 17 October 2003, 17:17 My wife is a Brownie leader & her car is always full of junk like this - I cleaned her car the other day, and she had got Blu-Tak stuck into the fabric of her rear seats, and also on a seatbelt - I used Panel Wipe - a spirit used by Car Painters for de-greasing panels before spraying, this melted the Blu-Tak and it just sort of rolled off onto my cloth. I thought when it dried it may leave a greasy mark, but no - did the job perfectly & it came off easily - I was surprised as when I saw it I was a little cross with my wife as I thought I would never get it out. May also be worth trying Standard Thinners, just test an iconspicuous area of trim first! |
