I've really no idea about plumbing but what appears to be a pump near to the hot water cylinder has begun making a throbbing noise.

I presume it relates to the hot water and central heating system. The boiler was recently checked and given a clean bill of health. Its a straightforward system not a combi boiler.

Can anyone help me re replacement costs etc or identifying the problem?

The noise is starting to keep me awake at night :(

Thanks in advance

Try bleeding the pump?

Thanks for the reply - my next question is - how do you bleed the pump?

Cheers

screw plate in the middle of the pump at the end of the spindle.

Thanks for the replies chaps - I bled the pump but it seemed OK. I also discovered that it was cranked to its maximum setting. I lowered it one position and whilst all the radiators and hot water seem fine the noise has stopped.

God I love Scoobynet! I'd never have had known you could blled it without this excellent advice and that gave me confidence to tackle it!

Thanks Again
