View Full Version : HELP!, HELP!, HELP
rallyvirgin2003 01 October 2003, 19:41 hi guys
Hopefully someone out there will be able to help me, here is the story.
I want to suprise my boyfriend by organising for us to attend the rally on Sat. 9th. Now me being completly useless at anything like this I need some advice. Could you please let me know how long does each stage last(roughly). Is it better to go for a day pass, event pass or stage pass. Ideally I would like to attend poss 2 stages not too far apart. The other thing I am totally confused about is which car parks to use.
I am sorry if the info I have given is really vague, but I am a total newcomer to this.
Thanks

here are your main options: Either....
Saturday day pass 1, offers three choices.....
Saturday day pass 1. (option 1) £30
This covers, "Crychan" the cars run through here twice at 07.53 and 10.33 and then moves onto "Resolfen" which runs at 15.39.
Saturday day pass 1. (option 2) £30
This covers, the same as above but just has different car parks.
Saturday day pass 1. (option 3) £30
This covers, "Halfway" the cars run through here twice at 08.20 and 11.00 and then moves onto "Resolfen" which runs at 15.39.
Saturday day pass 2...... £25
This covers, "Margam Park" the cars only run once through here at 13.53 and then goes to Cardiff for the "Super special" at 19.30.
Personally I would choose the saturday day pass 1 (option 3).....
It is upto you if you get there for the first run at 08.20, but i would reccomend it as you are getting more for your money. Halfway is where Marcus Gronholm crashed last year and a few others as well, (if that means anything to you).
If you get there for the first run through, you can watch them all go through and then on the second run.... watch the first 30 cars then make a move for Resolfen...... there will be a lot of traffic so it could take you an hour and half or two hours to get there.
To get to Halfway for the first run you would have to have an early start may be 5.00......
anymore info wanted..... email me at scoff@btinternet.com
Iwan 02 October 2003, 08:34 I'd agree with Scoffs recommendation about a saturday day pass, however i have an extra suggestion that could make the day a little more special if your boyfriend is a rally fan.
On saturday the cars are scheduled to start arriving back at Parc Ferme in Cardiff at 20:13. You'd have plenty of time to leave the last stage and go into Cardiff, have a meal etc, then head over to Parc Ferme to watch the cars arriving to park up for the night.
You'll see all of the cars arriving covered in dirt after the superspecial, as they pull in they get a quick jet-wash before parking up (ususally accompanied by a few handbrake turns for fun). You can stand really close and have a great view of all the cars and drivers (better than at the service area). Most of the drivers are happy to sign a few autographs for people. And best of all it doesn't cost anything extra.
Parc Ferme is behind Cardiff City Hall and the Museum, about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the Hilton Hotel. I can give you better directions if you're not sure where that is.
Hope that helps,
Iwan
J and L 02 October 2003, 14:02 I agree with Iwan - I was a WRC virgin last year and my boyfriend took me to Wales. We went for Saturday's superspecial, and a couple of Sunday stages. We found the cars by accident on Saturday night, as we didn't know that was where they were. It was fantastic. Loads of photos of me next to all the cars (OK there was a chain link fence separating us!!). Watch out though - I'm now hooked - we did Greece in June, we're in Wales for all three days, and we went to Yorkshire last weekend to watch the British rally!

Rallygb.co.uk 03 October 2003, 16:02 Rallyvirgin2003,
You will love the rally, as long as you take some general advice about the clothing, etc.
Take a look at my site, and look at the Useful Info and Stage Info sections especially.
If you've got any questions you can e-mail me via the site.
