siwrx 26 September 2003, 15:40 sounds a bit expensive, generally the scooby bonnets u get over here are 500-550 odd retail. Prob not worth doing a custom job, just importing from the us as they are available out there.
BIGALL 27 September 2003, 10:02 where are they for that kind of money???, the one I had made is hybrid carbon/kevlar ( black & yellow )
BIGALL 27 September 2003, 10:04 how much is it import a us one the carriage must be about £150 + the damage risk. is it worth it??/
siwrx 27 September 2003, 11:30 its insured and i paid £60 carriage on it. So long as you declare it for its genuine value its fully covered. All my stuff has come from the US and I havent had a problem. The quality is amazing out there and the prices low. Then you just pay carriage and vat on top which normally takes them to 500 ish.
I believe TSL sell carbon bonnets out of stock now. Kevlar is cool, one of the companies i buy from has started doing pure kevlar, not carbon kevlar mix in about 6 colours, looks wicked, really different :)
M0NEY 27 September 2003, 11:34 Yeah as Si said, they cost between £500 - £550. There are quite a few companies doing them now. I emailed 4 the other day.
I got my carbon bonnet, carbon scoop and 22b vents (in carbon) for £520 including delivery.
Ive been told carbon bonnets cost £400 to be made - so they are already making £100 - £150 a bonnet quite easily.
This includes carbon, kevlar, whatever
siwrx 27 September 2003, 11:38 Actually to second what money said, one of my friends is looking at importing a bulk of scooby bonnets for me for a group buy, these would be the same style as mine but dirty cheap if we could get a big interest id say we would be looking at 150 quid of normal retail

rob oneill 27 September 2003, 19:07 Si,
Who do you use to bring your bonnet in from the US for that price??
Ive got to send a bonnet from the UK to Luxemburg and its going to cost me £160.00 in carriage, would be very interested to know.
Thanks for any help, Rob.
M0NEY 27 September 2003, 21:56 He knows a guy in Fedex i think and thats why he got it so cheap
siwrx 28 September 2003, 13:57 rob mine cost me 100 quid on overnight priority freight with fedex. Would have been 45 if id waited 2 weeks but im impatient lol.
My good mate is a manager at Fedex so I just got him to arrange the shipping
rob oneill 28 September 2003, 19:21 Ahh, contacts in the business :)
OK, thanks for the info.
Rob.
siwrx 28 September 2003, 20:59 should be cheaper than that, luxembourg isnt far. Ring fedex and get a quote on sending it freight, if you dont send priority (next day) it should take a week and cost near to nothing
BIGALL 30 September 2003, 11:39 Ive just spoke to the man who made min and he can do scooby bonnets at £500 any body interested???
siwrx 30 September 2003, 12:23 is that 500 with the scoops and little vents in carbon too
otherwise its a real pain to match the weave and find the parts, ideally you need them complete
M0NEY 30 September 2003, 17:38 Guy has dropped £100 already?
Siwrx, i think you shoud do a group buy for these lot. I reckon you could get it for about £400 or maybe a tad cheaper if you bargain with the supplier :D
siwrx 30 September 2003, 18:01 yeah will look into it m8

M0NEY 02 October 2003, 08:46 Michael, let siwrx speak to his supplier. He gets very good discount and thats why he gets it cheap!

M0NEY 02 October 2003, 13:09 Depends on the colour of the car i guess.
Red it looks nice.
But green, blue, silver i think it will look nasty. Not even sure to do it if you have black
Fatman 03 October 2003, 12:05 Nope, it's gotta be painted body-colour IMHO.
