View Full Version : Cheapest bike insurance?? Tommy 2000 18 September 2003, 15:47 Which companies offer the most competitive bike insurance deals? Mogsi 18 September 2003, 16:00 I have always found H&R best for me... http://www.bikeinsurance.uk.com Best bet is grab MCN or any bike mag and ring as many of the Inurance companys as you can.... TRIGGER 18 September 2003, 16:34 H and R for me too - also used Hastings once as they were cheapest for my 125cc. Coopz 18 September 2003, 16:37 I use MCE based in Wellingborough, they beat my other quotes by quite a considerable amount and they have great customer service! robby 18 September 2003, 18:45 Motorcycledirect were cheapest for me Burt 18 September 2003, 19:37 BikeTeam also worth a try 08708 977 733 Just putting through a claim and they have been very helpful so far, I'll let you know how it goes. Cheers Burt [Edited by Burt - 9/18/2003 7:38:54 PM] Sbradley 18 September 2003, 23:24 We havea deal going with Direct Choice - take a look here (https://www.directchoice.co.uk/bike/motorbikestoday.asp?referrer=IN-MC2DAY) and be prepared to ring them if the quote isn't all that. Never know them to fail yet :) If you use them could you drop me a line offlist to tell me what you think? I'm trying to get some more feedback from people so I know whether to stay with them or move... Ta muchly, SB Blade_Rider69 19 September 2003, 00:07 these were the best for me - http://www.carolenash.com/welcome.shtml Tommy 2000 19 September 2003, 09:55 Thanks for the replies so far. I'll give 'em a try and let you know how I get on...:) JockyTT 19 September 2003, 11:45 I'm in the market too - tried your recommendation SB, was £40 lower than my renewal, but doesn't inclue breakdown recovery or legal, which I think would probably bring it in to line with current... Others have tried www.clickquote.com with good results.... Scott W 19 September 2003, 11:55 I tried all of the above, and as I've got a Yamaha I tried Yamaha Insurance Services and they beat the lot of them. So depending on the bike you have, the manufacturer might have their own insurance section. Tommy 2000 19 September 2003, 13:25 Scott, have you got contact details for Yamaha Insurance Services? Cheers Bravo2zero_sps 19 September 2003, 13:43 Go to Yamaha.co.uk and to the bikes section. My brand new R1 was only £600 fully comp and I'm 30, other insurance companies were more than twice that! Tommy 2000 19 September 2003, 14:43 I can't find insurance section on Yamaha website?? fastfrank 19 September 2003, 18:09 Online quotes... quite competitive :-) http://www.insurance2000.co.uk Bravo2zero_sps 20 September 2003, 14:34 Think this is Yamaha Insurance tel no 0870-0747374 - got it off another site as I can't be ar$ed to get my insurance details out :p , otherwise search google! Sbradley 20 September 2003, 17:28 Guys, although manufacturer's schemes are very good first time around, be aware that sometimes they are crap when it comes to renewal. I know of several folk who have ended up having to get rid of the bike because the promotional rate was great the first year but then renewals were so expensive (as was everywhere else) that they just couldn't afford it  Probably doesn't apply here but worth bearing in mind... DARREN 12 October 2003, 20:16 Bennets done me a good deal. Passed test 3 wks ago and a honda cbr600 is 210 quid :D:D:D:D TPF and Theft. gluestick 13 October 2003, 19:11 H&R for me boys, bout 400 quid cheaper than the others i tried, but will look into the yamaha one ?? Tommy 2000 14 October 2003, 09:58 Yamaha were best in the end for a new rider on an R6. It looks like a quality policy as well - unlimited mileage, commuting inc, etc. :) Gixer 15 October 2003, 17:18 Unfotunately, all companies will assess their risks individually, based 9on the bikes they have paid out on. So, company A may have paid out claims on 25% of the CBR600's they insure, whereas Company B have paid out on only 7%. Which company will deem the CBR as a low risk? I insure 4 of my bikes for just over £300 per annum fully comp, but do about 30,000 miles in total on them a year.Ithgink it is expensive, but on a cost per mile basis, it ios sod all. mind you, still waiting for settlement on the accident i had at the beginning of June. Ring around, then ring around again once you have a bunch of quotes, to see who will beat the quotes you have just got. And remember that many companies offer an introductory rate for each new client-an incentive to ring around come renewal date. |
