My Opinion...Your thoughts and response!
Year 2001 was the inaugural year for the Mount Stuart Motorsport Classic held on the Island of Bute. The invitations went out to the selected few from the Scottish and English rallying scene. The event itself ran great bearing in mind it was the first year this event was held, Over Five Thousand spectators lined the stage and gave a great boost to all competitors ranging from the Subaru WRC cars, 6R4s down to the 1400cc Corsa that we competed in.
When the event was over it was announced by Johnny Bute (Dumfries) what a success it had been and that “ALL COMPETITORS” who took part in this event would be invited back for the following years event.
With three weeks to go prior to this year’s event I became concerned that I had not received my invitation for the 2nd running of the event.
Not to be disheartened I contacted the President of the Lanarkshire car club who were the organising car club for the event and also MPA Media who were event organisers.
Four days later I had not even received and acknowledgement of my correspondence so an e-mail went back to the both of them and I received a reply from LCC who bluntly told me sorry but the event has its quota. The reply I got from MPA Media was that they were not really in charge of this side of it and passed on the e-mail address of one of the Mount Stuart organisers.
When I asked them both who was being invited given that we were all told of a guaranteed invitation the previous year I again am still waiting for a reply.
FOUR e-mails have been sent requesting a reply but to no avail!!!
My gripe is that both the organising car club and Mount Stuart have decided to DITCH the guys who helped them launch the event to invite more high profile names. This is not a bad thing in a way but the whole point of the event was to show younger people how easy to start off in the sport and by only seeing 100k super cars I don`t think it is giving the correct message accross.
I have not even had the decency of a reply from either LANARKSHIRE CAR CLUB OR MOUNT STUART ORGANISING COMMITTEE.
If any of the above are reading this post along with many others i would like to hear your reply.
As I said in the heading this is only my opinion and I have not thrown the dummy out of the pram because I didn’t get an invitation,so your thoughts and replies would be appreciated.
