As an avid rally fan i've been living overseas for the last few of years so havent attended the new small scale, Cardiff based rally GB (what was wrong with 5 days and a whole tour of the UK anyway?). Anyway i was just wondering if anybody could shed light on the stages that will be opening the night before for overnight sleeping, its all part of the rally GB but i cant get find any information about carpark opening times anywhere, Ive got pass 1 for Friday and Saturday.

last year all of the early stages were open the night before, except for Halfway. Last year i remember them saying they were going to open the car parks for Brechfa at midnight. When we got there at about 11pm they had already opened due to the large amount of people already turned up, there were about 400 cars already in there by then.
This year we have gone for the Friday pass 1, so we will be heading down Thursday evening to Trawscoed, aiming to get there for about 10-30/11 ish (fireworks already ordered).....

I got to Halfway at 2am last year in the thick fog, and got in no problem. There were still speed traps at that time of the night as well !!

Just to re-iterate what was said before, all of the car parks which have a stage starting early in the morning, even some of them the 2nd or 3rd stage of the day WILL have overnight parking. Don't bother asking the ticket hotline because they don't know.

We'll only officially know when the programmes come out, but if you're wanting to see any early morning stages, and want to get there the night before and sleep over (fireworks, beer, etc included !) then there will be no problems.

Last year we arrived at Halfway car park O at around midnight and there was a metal barrier across the entrance with a sign on it saying "Car park opens at 6am".

The annoying thing was that the Police had put out no parking/no stopping cones and tape across every layby, grass verge or gateway etc for about 4 or 5 miles in each direction. We backtracked until we found a layby with no cones/tape (and about 5 other cars parked up!) and slept there.

It was a pain in the ass to have to get up at 6am only to drive 5 miles then park up again for several hours wait till the stage started.

Oh well, thats rallying i suppose, hope it open earlier this year though! ;-)

Any restriction on what you can park in the car park.

A small group of us have been struggling to get hotels in the area so as we have access to a 6 berth motorhome thought about using that but not sure where we would park it up. I then saw this thread and this could be the answer to our problems.

Any carparks we should avoid with a vehicle of this size.

There were definately motorhomes in the forest car parks last year, i was parked next to one on the saturday night. You'll probably be ok, you may have to boot everyone out and get them to direct/guide you when parking up, or when doing a 3-point turn on a muddy forest track in the pitch dark!
