Bhouys, I'm having serious problems with my shower. One minute it's working fine the next it's knackered. I have no control over the temp of the water. On ther lowest setting its hot, on the highest setting it's unbearabley hot. The shower is a Gainsborough Princess. Does this sound like a thermostat problem? Any you plumbers out there got any ideas. cheers lads 'n' lasses

Sounds to me like a water pressure prob - what is the flow like - same as before?

Sorry, but best bet is to buy a decent one like Mira or Triton.

Diesel, thanks for the info. There was a block in the pipe which restricted the water flow. Some how affected the temperature.
Mog, cheers for the comment, but she'll do me proud for a year or two yet!!!!!!! Albert

That would make sense Albert - these devices control the water temp by reducing or increasing the water flow through the heating element. The lower the flow, the longer the water 'sits' on the element and so the hotter it gets. You'll be a Scoobynet expert in no time ;)

my gf's mum has a cheap gainsbourgh and everytime we go and stay there the shower is like a roulette wheel with regards to the temperature. It doesn't matter what you put the dials at. I actually beleive the dials are not connected to anything. The flow rate is crap, it takes about 10mins to get all the soap out your hair. Oh and if you goto toilet before going into the shower then you may aswell forget it
Its a pile of poo and the guy that did the plumbing didn't know much.
Been looking at showers as triton do some reasonably priced high power ones for only about £100
Best shower is my mum and dad's mira mixer unit, fantastic power and precise temp control. Mira's rock
