The Marriot is bang central of Cardiff, just as previous head for St Mary st and just follow the crowds or join the end of the queues they`ll probably be going into the best places. But remember your early start saturday morning.

stayed in cardiff the past 2 years. the super special will be on in cardiff on the friday night, but that is about it. The super special has never really appealed to me for some reason so couldn't tell you what its like...... as for the rest of cardiff, its just a normal friday night down there to be honest.....
If you want bars & restaurants head for St Marys in the city centre, it is bar after bar....... and very good.

Cheers for the replies.....

Im statying in the Marriot on Mill Lane. Is that central?? Could I walk to the Super Specials from there. If you could reccomend some trendy lively bars that would be great. There's 4 lads coming down all 25 so were after a pretty lively night out too.

The areana gives a good view of the cars for a good minute or so but it`s man made with a little jump and watersplash, viewing is from up on the hillside, you would be allowed to walk the track from your ETA to find a "better" place to watch. Are you going to any other stages that day, to be honest i haven`t looked at the timetable, but Halfway stage looks ok very fast tarmac then onto grvel should catch a few out thats where i`m going this year.

if you are getting there for 9 am (ish) you will have no problem, i went there last year and had no trouble getting in or out......
as for the bars...... there are to many to mention but the "walkabout" is always a good place to aim for...... 2 floors, dance floor and all that........

Wiseguy123
05 September 2003, 16:57
Cheers sounds good....Im there on the saturday though so it won't be then end. Any idea what time i should get there if the stage starts at 13:18....what was it like with traffic last year??

05 September 2003, 16:59
Sounds good scoff im looking forward to it already...I bet the city is busy over the weekend isn't it??? You'd thought that they would put something on at night for the fans but then i suppose we all have to be up early the next day.

Margam is ok if you can walk a mile or so......
If you keep walking up and over the hill, you will come to the area where Burns went off last year and just up the track a little further there is a wall/gate they have to go through.... if you can keep walking as we did, (climb over the wall) you will come to some very quiet spots in proper forest land.... total about 40 minute walk from car park near the Margam house.......

Lloyds bar on Greyfrairs road is good! The Scrum sports bar on Park Place is always a good night out! Didn't have a problem getting on or out of any stages last year! That might be because I had a media pass on the car!

Email me if you wanna know any other good night spots in Cardiff!

Decent nightclubs - Evolution (Atlantic Wharf - Cardiff bay)
L'Amercia - (emporium) St.Mary's street
Liquid - St Mary's Street (V.Good)
Creation - off Queen Street (Hard)!!

For a good night I'd stick to the bars and smaller clubs for a better atmosphere.

krbenson19@sw-cc.com

stay away from evolution unless ur off ur face! sucks big time!

stay in town and bars like walkabout and some of the smaller bars, cheaper and a better laugh!

THE Party to attend rally weekend is the after rally party! last years was at creation, mind you its not easy getting in, its ticket only and its meant to be for teams- drivers, mechanics, marshalls, etc. I was fortunate to blag tickets off a few marshalls at parc ferme nr cardiff city hall on last years sunday evening before the finish at cardiff castle! was a quality night, saw most top drivers on the lash - solberg (celebrating his win), burnsie etc. The party to be at if u can get ur hands on tickets! no doubt i will be trying again this year!

On friday night, the MTV music awards is on in the city,if you like that sort of thing.
To be honest, you will be better investing in an event pass and sleeping in the car-far better, and your never too far away from a frindly chat in the woods.Rally fans always like to share their Camp fires and tell tales of woe and near misses..

So what if you dont wash for 3 days
