korky 31 August 2003, 21:44 The above event, which features a round of the British Rally Championship will take place in Dalby forest over the weekend of 27/28th September 2003.
On the Saturday an historic rally also runs.
The rally is based in and around Malton this year.
I'm from the York area - is anyone is interested in going to spectate - probably on the Saturday?

mark@wrx 21 September 2003, 21:00 Gale Rigg is at map reference 100/818 932, about 7 miles due north of Pickering. Knew those old road books would come in handy!;)
ATC 1 22 September 2003, 01:05 Cheers for the info scoff.
scoff 22 September 2003, 09:28 mark@wrx
is gale rigg near the area called "stape"
i dont have OS maps, so am having to use my AA road atlas lol
cant find the place on multimap.com either
cheers for the info though
scoff 22 September 2003, 11:46 ok found it now........
thanx for the info......
STE.W. 22 September 2003, 12:04 Hi, dont know if you peeps are interested or not but Gail Rigg last year was supposed to be a non spectator stage.
We tried to gain access from stape in through the top as normal but a big wig official would not let anyone in.
Because we we are "local":D we had a back up plan....
If you are coming from Cropton/ Pickering and Stape etc, look on a normal road map and you will see a roman road or sigle track road heading back towards Egton Bridge.
When you have gone through Stape you will climb up hill towards the Gail Rigg forest drive entrance on your right.
Go past this and follow the road down through a tight twisty bit and up the other side. Keep on going through a gate ontut moors:D
Approx 1/2 mile down the road there will be a gate going into the forest on your right. If the rally is using this part of Gail Rigg - it should be- then you can park up and walk for 5-10 mins and be in a wide open section of stage for nowt!!:D
Also..
If your going to Cropton, park up on the road to the Spiers house campsite as close as poss. Then walk through the campsite (main road) and go up hill. Theres a nice section up there.:D
This may help if you dont want to be hearded in to the pens in the Wood Yard BAAAAAAHHHHH.
cheers for the full stage times.
Ste.
Bob T get your $hit together man:D and give a mail regarding rv points and lups:D:D:D
scoff 22 September 2003, 14:09 cheers, great help........ i hope.
BOB.T 22 September 2003, 15:06 Chuffin eck Ste, I'm on HR as it is, without RVs and LUPs:eek: Are we gonna walk in normally this time or TAB like last time:D;)
STE.W. 22 September 2003, 16:19 Helly drop followed by 10k with 50kilo pack this time mate:D:D:D:D
We'll be driving as far as possible this time fella.
Mail me off board if ya want to talk tactical mate:D
Best Regards,
Ste
BOB.T 22 September 2003, 17:26 Will do in the AM mate, I have an ERV with my tea to deal with first;):D
navigator 22 September 2003, 19:27 thanks for info guys.We are stopping not too far from egton bridge so gale rigg looks a must.also like the sound of cropton.
i'll be in the blue 01 with "characteristic" number plate if you see me give me a shout or a wave, abuse etc.
oh i'll be with the wife and my 2 sons are coming too.
really enjoyed this event last year and despite it sounding naff the pickering show ground was good value.especially when the cars were in for service.all very accessible and fun.
good chance to wear the scooby t shirt, jacket, hat etc too.
hope you all have a good time if i dont see ya.
[Edited by navigator - 9/23/2003 4:03:47 PM]
STE.W. 23 September 2003, 17:17 Nav, no worries mate.
Might see ya there. The usual Silver Leg T Estate and Festa Sport plus STI7 trying to keep up:D
Once youve gone over the Esk in Egton turn left out of the village and up on to the moors heading for Wheeldale moor and Wheeldale moor roman road!!. This road will also take you to Stape and then Pickering and Cropton for the other stages if needed.
Youl travel approx 6 miles or so to get to Gail rigg.
you'll go through one watersplash (proppa) and then approx 2 miles further on you'll go over another sort of dried up watersplash  Once over this crazy paved ford type thing start looking for cars parked up on the left. You'll know your there by the number of rally spectator type of cars parked up.
There will be proppa track with a gate on the left. if you go through the gate and follow the path you will come to a pond on the right and then at the top of this hill will be the stage.
It should be open cleared forest with the track running through the middle. We found a good point to the left as it drops down and round.
Cars went off last year at this point but they were put back on by the hardcore elite spectators that were dug in for the day:D:D:D:D
God --- I hope its using this part after all the info given.
Sorry on advance if its not:p
If you want anymore info just ask.
Its not just a local rally for local people:D
Have a gud un.
Ste.
