is it going to be joist and boards, or laminate over a slab, cos putting the pipes in the slab is the most efficient way to do it, and then put wood on top, I have a wooden floor all over the house, but with carpet on top, only thin stuff though, cos thick carpet holds the heat down!
If I could get some pics up, you'd see how I did it!

ps, I'm sending you some pics!!

Afternoon all!

I was hoping someone would be able to give me ROUGH costs of having some underfloor heating in my kitchen, approx. 3metres by 3 metres (probably a little less actually). Also, is it a difficult job, i.e. will it require a specialist or can my local add job chap do it?

Many thank in advance1

hi,
my mate got it fitted to his bathroom last year, got it from wickes
for his bathroom it was only £70, a good tiler would fit it no problem, very easy to wire it up.

Depends which type of system you want to use, I have just built a new house with a full wet system upstairs and down, but to be honest, I think thats a bit too much for the area you want to cover, you can get electric mats that go under tiles, this is probably more sense for a small area, they're available form places like Screwfix, and they literally just go in the tile cement, what type of flooring are you going to have??

Might be a daft question but is there a system available for under wooden floors?

I have used a system under the floors upstairs, it's quite simple, you out a small batten on the side if the joists, then place a 1 inch thick piece of Celotex in the gap, and then lay the pipe on clips in the void under the floor boards.
Warmafloor supplied ours, they're in the Southampton area, and are very helpfull, I'm in the process of fitting it in a mates conservatory for him, they do systems for all types of floor.

Thanks, having a conservatory built and underfloor heating wasn`t an option i had considered with a wooden floor.
