I have three JL10w6's in a selaed enclosure against the back seat.

Running then of a Gensis monoblock, at 1 ohm. Something like 1200 watts I think.

The bass is very good, to say the least.....

I have just purchased a classic shape scooby and I want to have an install done in the boot, I will be using 2 x 12" subs and two amps.

Does anyone have any pics of any installs which look quite good?

I will be having it done at a Hi-Fi installer so I want to keep the man hours down. Is there an alternative to the thick MDF stuff which will help keep the weight down?

yep, i'm soon to finish off my fibreglass sub box for a 10" macdaddy; it still weighs a bit, but a bit less than mdf, but what really is the best bit about fibreglass is that you can build a box to whatever shape. this is it last night - i had just streched an old tee shirt over the mould created by the nearside wheel arch and left the acetone can on top to hold down the material on the speaker baffle

i've just reinforced this with more resin and matting, and now it needs sanding and finishing - will use carpet to match the boot, and the genesis will sit opposite. the curves created by stretching the t shirt are quite cool, it makes such a nice change to standard square cut mdf. By the way, this is the first time i've used fibreglass, and it is quite easy and good fun to mess with (smells good!!!;)). more pics to follow when its cut out etc but on hols for a week so project on hold for a bit!!

I'm no good with using my own hand to create something like this hence I'm going to take my car to a hi-fi place, but I'm afraid If I ask them to start doing moulds out of fibre glass then the cost is going to be sky high for the labour.

I like your chose of sub and amp. I've got a 12" mac dady and a large DLS mono-block, I'm using Focal comps together with a 5 channel Genesis amp, top quality SQ. I'd be interested to see the finished article.

you could do one for either side of the boot; auto acoustics do ready made fibre glass boxes for about 150 each - after its finished i reckon it will have cost me approx £70 in total for materials (brushes, matting, mdf, carpet, resin, catalyst) i also bought and angle grinder (you can see it in the piccy) for 20 quid from homebase to cut the shape out and trim up the box edges - you need this to cut through this stuff. it has taken a few hours or so in total, so i don't think it would be cheaper then doing an mdf job, but it looks far more impressive than my square sub box i just got shot of.

Just been speaking to my ICE installer about puting in an extra 12" Mac Daddy sub to make it a two sub box and he said I would get louder bass by using JL free air subs mounted under the parcel shelf. I'm not too keen on this method as these types of subs don't go very low, can anyone offer me any suggestions on getting bass into the car and not just the boot.

How do you find the bass? I'm still not sure about sub enclosures in a scooby boot, has anyone found better results with free air subs like JL Audio ones?

the bass is good, my system is more sq than spl tho

pretty much mine too, just done the sub box (pic to follow) and the amp is being sorted this weekend, complete with a subtle blue neon lighting (NOT your max power stuff!!)
