& finally a comparison as to what was there when we arrived & what is currently there taken from roughly the same spot - also designed to show the work I've put into the garden so far! Its just been seeded for grass.

Weren't planning on it - why you have a good suggestion for an opener? Wooden ones - 2 per frame.

Deano

You're welcome over anytime m8 :)

TBH hadn't thought about openers and my plan had been to only have a single point of (lockable) access via the side-door, the main garage doors being secured from inside...

Today's activity

http://www.goorey.com/house/g24.jpg

:D

Bit like a house you'd expect on Mars! This is apparently some super insulating material that is much more efficient that normal stuff. Good job 'cos we live on top of a hill & it gets quite cold sometimes, like tonight - we've had snow & its lying

I think that cold permitting I'll be doing the wiring for the sockets/lights this week-end. Going to be having a 10 day break as builder just doing another little job as he was a helper down & our project got hit by snow which slowed him down too. I've also got to attempt to get the boards painted before the roof goes up & seeing as how I've only got week-ends, going to be a toughie - painting party anyone? ;)

More pics tomorrow I hope - wife took this...

Looking good ,
What kind of security are you going to look at ?
If you put an Ademco Microtech Galaxy in the house tou could run a single 4wire screen to the garage (its a rs485 link ) and put a "rio" in the garage. It would give you 8 zones and 4 outputs all programmable ( bells , strobes , security shutters , machine guns etc )
I put one in my house and it controls all sorts of things
Only an idea

My security will be "adequate" - eh Huxley? ;)

I have a good system in the house, which will extended to compliment the garage, with backup. Physical security will be strong as well, yet asthetically pleasing.

Bottom line of defence is the local farmer & gamekeeper :D Alarm goes off & they can be round in minutes on their quads...

Who what when where why !!!!!

Errrrrr Yes :D:D

Only if he could get the lazy git up there to do the garage without moving the goalposts :p That some old volvo driving duffer keeps moving every so often :lol1:

"runs away and hides"

Oh better be good as I won't get me lunch when I go up :D:D:D

Breakfast, Lunch, untold tea & choccy biscuits

Well, have you know, I done the 1st 3m of your trench today. Needed to get the holes drilled into the garage whilst I was doing the rest, so thought I'd better get the garage end done before it gets concreted in (see what I mean when you get here).

Now it was only 3m so I'll need you to remember the position of the outside end - it is one rake's length from the edge of the lowest step for the field-end steps of the vegetable patch.

Well

We've had a 10 day break as builder went to do a little job & a stag week-end.

Came home last night to find that we had a ceiling in the garage.

Today we've been felted & slates going on as well as getting the stairs in.

Wife has been taking pics, so updates later today...

Cost so far? Hmm...

Not cheap by any means & I'm sure (in fact I know) I could've got it a lot cheaper but then the quality would've been a lot less I'm sure of that. We have 100% confidence in our builder as we've seen his work & he has a good reputation. He is also concious & sympathetic to all the things that make a job more than that, & by that I mean asthetics and practicality.
