But, I hear you ask, that was a while back...

Yes - sorry - mea culpa :( I've not been too active with the camera as I generally leave @ sparrows croak & return after dark + been away for a few days in Ireland...

Well, came back this evening to find that we now have got roof trusses on :D We'd left with walls built. Clambered up the ladder to check out the space & it's gonna be good. The garage area is also suitably large :D

I WILL GET SOME MORE PICS UP SOON - PROMISE

In the meantime, have a look at the below for where my next project lies - outline planning permission, just not in the right place  but the pics were taken today from where its going to be :D

looks a biggun - about 6.4m internally?

looks quite high too - any reason for having so many brick courses above the doors?

Puff The Magic Wagon!
24 March 2005, 11:46
Um - not that I am aware of... All I specified was 7m x 7m (so guess you're about spot on) + as much of a space above as possible as a studio/room. It should end up 5.8m high. It might be a "proportional" thing?

I'm hoping that he'll leave some nice openings for birds to nest as well :)

is there a stair to go in too then?

Makes a pleasant change to see a garage being built from bricks rather than breezeblocks :thumb:

What flooring and lighting are you going for in the garage space?

Puff The Magic Wagon!
24 March 2005, 17:18
Oh yes - stairs to go in :) Fully insulated etc blah

Bricks (thanks you know who :D ;) ) are a pre-requiste to blend in with house...

The reason is because of the stair.

1) There has to be headroom of 2m at the last step up

2) There has to be a petrol trap at the bottom of the stair made of brick

As per telephone conversation :p

Also as a gentle reminder, Cat 5 cables for cctv,Screened Alarm cables (if you can find it) :p

Puff The Magic Wagon!
25 March 2005, 20:28
I can't

I *think* theres some at the office...

Do I need 1 Cat5 per Cam?

I'm using 15mm flexible waterpipe as conduit.

I am absolutely bushed - been digging the trench for the electric cable and most of the drive consists of bricks and flints under a layer of gravel  Just got about 7m of grass/earth to dig up for the last bit. Trenches for Cat5 & alarm will be easier :D

Puff

I have 4 x Dual 6ft in my double garage (5.25x5.25) and am very happy with them.

Units bought on-line from www.qvsdirect.co.uk. Tubes bought locally.

White emulsion everywhere helps no end as well. Although I dont have a room above - the ceiling is plasterboarded (not sure why) - Painting that white seemed to double the light.

PTMW..I was joking.. single garage etc :D

you know you 'shouldnt' use water pipe as conduit! ;) :D

15mm is pretty small for any more than 2x cat5 and one alarm too!

I'd use something larger and thread a rope for spare..:D

Armoured cable for power needs to be 450mm deep iirc..and then cable tape a little higher than the cable.

Puff The Magic Wagon!
29 March 2005, 20:45
Well, having threaded 40m of the bloody stuff, then buried it underground, its too bloody late :D

Note to self - don't buy 15m rolls as they are fecking hard to thread

2x Cat5 for data comms to/from house

16mm armoured cable, another 30m of, buried and ready to connect up to summat :D

Hux - not done your run yet, that can wait a while but the other stuff needed to get down 'cos of grass being seeded etc.

If not why not !!!! :p

As long as it goes into the garage and the house under ground some time ?

If It causes brain strain call me :D :p
