There seems to be little mention of Thursday (shakedown) in this thread, and also in the ticketing info on the web site, am I to assume that it's free to access the shakedown stage??

roughly ?

i want two WRC passes (ie 4 day ones) @ £150 each, but will have to wait until next weekend (29th aug) until i can order them

whats the likely-hood that they'll be enough left ?

I'm a WRC virgin (at spectating) so if the WRC pass option falls through what other ticket options do i have - ive got the full 4 days off so ideally i want to do the whole thing. recommendations are welcome

cheers
chris

Hi Chris

I can't answer that for definite but I do know that Simon (webby) posted this yesterday:

Just to let you know... I've just spoken to the organisers and the ticket are selling very fast indeed.

"World Rally Passes and Event Passes are the biggest sellers and the World Rally Pass is on target to sell out very early."

If you don't succeed in getting one of the World Rally Passes you can always buy an Event Pass and add Shakedown and other stage passes to it.

Hope this helps :)

Yep, we booked Event Pass Option 3, there wasn't much in it really between the Event Passes. 3 suits us as the car parks are easier to access from a northerly direction which is where we'll be coming in from :)

Weird. I would have thought the price of the WRC passes and Event tickets would have put people off. Especially as quite a few people cannot go to the race every day.

Last year we ordered only a pass for one stage for the friday afternoon and then a day pass for saturday (no time to go on friday whole day or sunday). When I arrived to pick them up in Cardiff on friday morning, they said they were gone. I wasn't happy since I paid and had a whole bunch of guests on their way from Belgium. We then got upgraded to Event tickets since there were many left !

I;'m also going for the full 4 days (for the firswt time too, as I only went for Sunday last year).
I tried and tried to work a cheaper way round the WRC passes, but if you're going for that amount of days, it's totally cheaper!!!

You also get the benefit of if you miss a stage, you're not resigned to missing out, because you can always catch any other stage you like! I myself, can see why they are so popular!!!

for the same price though you can make your own up..........
Friday day pass 1..... trawscoed, resolfen & cardiff super special
Saturday day pass 1... crychan (twice) & resolfen
sunday single stage pass..... rhondda (twice)

£75 the same as an event pass......

But remember,
if you're going for 3 or more days, and if you want all the superspecials for all 3 nights, and would like to have the convienience of going to stages you want and doing it in your own time without having to rush about, get the World Rally pass.

Shakedown entry is included in the World Rally Pass or can be purchased in advance for £25 as the Thursday Day Pass (http://www.walesrallygb.com/default.asp?Page=ThursdayDayPass) which also includes entry to the superspecial.

as for saying get the world rally pass..... £150.
yeah you can do what ever stages you want, but you won't get many more in than the event pass offers or the above mentioned by myself....

Agree with Scoff.

All comes down to own preferences. We generally go for an Event Pass. Seeing more stages is practically difficult and you probably end up missing one getting stuck in traffic.
We personally don't mind so much which stage we see. If you pick a good spot, they're all as spectacular. Wouldn't want to miss superstages though. Not interesting for sport, but what an atmosphere ! And it can give you an idea of which car is more powerful than another, explaining some stage times.
With the £75, we can all go out friday an saturday night for a good curry and a quite a few beers.

Totally disagree

Kwispel Says:
"Seeing more stages is practically difficult and you probably end up missing one getting stuck in traffic."

All the more reason to buy a WR pass. Get an event pass, goto one of the stages you are allocated and get stuck in traffic! You miss out! Us with the world rally passes don't worry about it, we just go to the next stage, which you might not have access to with a event pass!

As I said, if you're going for 3 or more days, and want a taster of evrything, get a world rally pass! It's a bargain and you get the full rally experience!

Hi All

Also agree with Scoff.

Just got my Event Pass today (permission to get excited!), did the same last year and it worked out perfectly, got to all our stages with no little or no traffic problems (miracle considering my so called "Navigator" can't read a map to save her life!). Yes the full pass gives more choice and flexibility but it's impossible to get to everything so a large part of it is going to go unused, can't be worth it.

I ordered my tickets via the web, (3 Adult Friday Day Pass 2) and they arrived in less than a week - amazing ?? Well yes and no ! Instead of the 3 Adult tickets I received 1 Adult, 1 Child and 1 Infant ! !
It took 20 minutes to talk to someone at Ticketmaster and then put on hold for a few minutes as the agent was unclear what to do. Eventually told to return all 3 tickets (Royal Mail special delivery of course), and they would then send the correct tickets out. Mind you when she said you must put a letter in explaining the problem otherwise the envelope might be opened and the tickets would be thrown away I was very worried. Need less to say my letter was written in capital letters. Just hope I do get the tickets !!!

Agree with Lise.

janskjaer says "if you get stuck in traffic, you just go to the next one". Knowing that subsequent stages always start immediately after the first one ended, giving the crews just enough time to get from one stage to the other, he's got to explain me how he manages to be faster than the crew in the road section, park the car AND walk to the stage...
I can't see how, if you are late at a stage (i.e. you arrive when the first car should already be leaving or has left), you can still get to the next stage in time.

E.g. If on the Saturday you realise you are gonna miss Crychan 1 and you think you'll "quickly" make it to Halfway 1... no way. You can catch the one after, i.e. Crychan 2. Same for Margam Forest and Margam Park. In that way, you're in exactly the same situation as the block with a day or event pass who has access to Crychan and misses Crychan 1 for instance.

Meanwhile, it has to be said that with the Event or Day passes, there is ample time to get in time to the stages, even with the traffic. If you don't, you maybe should consider loosing your navigator somewhere in the Welsh mountains.
If you take a WRC pass, you want to see more stages than with any other pass... in which case... good luck !

I'd just like to wish GeeBee best of luck in getting the tickets sorted, after last years fiasco (least said about that the better) I really do sympathise.

We just wanna go rallying we don't need the agg!
