Springs are circa 40-50 quid, not sure on dampers as well though

yep, with dampers. done about 48000 miles.

48000 is a lot of miles. The dampers are unlikely to be in tip-top shape after that many miles. My STI3 dampers were distinctly past their best by ~30K miles.
