My brother and me and hopping accross the water from Yorkshire to see you guys and the Ulster Rally, I wonder if you guys can offer any advice?

We have the ferry and a campsite in Armargh sorted already, we wondered if there was anything different for Ireland that we need to sort out. I'm guessing English currency is OK in N. Ireland? I don't mean to tar all the Irish with the same brush but obviously we hear of troubles in Ireland, now I'm no politician or owt and I know very little about the situation over there so the last thing I want to do is cause hassle but, is there anything to look out / places to avoid or am I being over cautious?:)

Insurance crossed my mind too, it's still GB though isn't it so I should be OK, maybe I should check first:confused:

Also if any of you could help out with regards to good stages etc that would be great! Is anyone planning to go?

Bob, I'd say a flak jacket is a must...put it on as soon as you leave the boat and you should be safe :D

You are being over cautious, although south Armagh is dangerous territory. Bandit country as they say.

Things are pretty quite at the minute though, so shouldnt worry, as I doubt you will be going near any bad spots anyway.
Norhtern Ireland is part of Great Britain, so money/insurance is no problem.
Other than than cant offer any advice on following the rally, as I dont usually bother with that, much better to watch it on TV. you see more.
Just be careful on the roads between stages, as it will be the same as any part of the UK...the cops love to setup speed traps to make their lives feel fulfilled when they catch someone speeding, and they think they have made the world a safer place.. while the robbers and murders and rapists etc walk the streets freely without a care in the world

I guess it's no different to here then, there's parts of my local town, which is only small that I won't go to:eek: Me and bruv are both quite big so hopefully that'll be a help too:D:D

i would inform your insurance company that Ni is technically a part of the Uk and as such your insurance company should cover you. chances are the muppet u spoke to on the end of the phone thought it was just ireland as so many people do and therefore foreign. does that mean your not insured in scotland and wales then also??

I've phoned my insurers direct, took the brokers out of the loop:D As far as they concerned I'm covered, yay!:cool: I really don't know what my brokers were thinking...I must of just got some numb head who couldn't find the right answer so just said no to cover her no doubt fat ass:rolleyes:

So, we're right back on track now:cool:

BTW - English accent in South Armagh - grow your hair as long as you can and make sure you wear loads of rally supporter type cloths..... you won't want to get mistaken for a squaddie :D

Euros for the South of Ireland - Repbulic of Ireland
Pounds Stirling for the North - UK

There are some brillant driving roads in and around Co. Armagh, you will have lots of fun.

Dont go to fast on the wee country roads because you could meet 3 big green Army Landrovers comming the other way. The Armagh City Hotel seems to have quite a few nice looking young ladies frequenting it, if your interested.

I moved here from scotland m8 and my wife is from yorksire and we've only seen any trouble once...in belfast..at night......on the subject of the squddies m8 make sure you carry your driving license or some sort of ID as they might stop you and ask to see it.....they can and you must provide.........i got stopped 20 min after getting off the ferry..lol.

I always carry my driving liscense anyway, I was gonna take my passport for good measure:D

I can't help thinking I'm being a bit OTT with all this but I guess it's best to find out beforehand than get stuck on a different island:D

To recap then, carry ID, Don't speed, wear motorsport clothing and don't make eye contact and I should be OK:D:D

ps: if you motor is lowered and you carrying a uprated exhaust and you traveling on the seacat you may have probs..i did, couldnt get on without it catching...it pulled my exhaust in half..lol

Big bruv has booked the ferry, it's the really fast one that's the same size as a footy stadium:cool: My car is lowered with a big exhaust plus it'll have two fat knackers in it with camping gear so we'll prolly rip the exhaust right off:D:D
