Possibly thinking of buying a old fashioned 30's/40's property to do up & resell, but it has no central heating as their is no mains gas connection.

It is in a built up residential area so no probs about getting it.

So my questions are:-

1 Whats a 'ballpark' figure for a mains gas connection?
2 Whats a 'ballpark' figure for a standard 3 bed semi central heating system gonna cost?

Just trying to work out whether its worth the hassle.....:)

gosh - thats not bad - thought it would be much more than that:)

It cost me £250 for my 3rd floor flat. This quote was taking a pipe from the mains and running a pipe 10m to the back of the block of flats. From there we ran our own pipe as they wanted to use scaffolding costing £600+ to put the meter in the house 60ft up.

At work, British Gas have just quoted us £2300ish for new connections and meters to 6 bungalows we are building, and that's with us doing the trench works for them.

john s et al British gas and transco are not the only people allowed to quote for this work they kep this information very close to there chest for obvious reasons we are currently negotiating with an independent firm to lay electric and gas too a site with approximately 200 plots will hunt out the name of the firm and post it tomorrow

Be careful who you have to put your gas in. There are an awful lot of cowboys out there who dont bother pressure testing etc.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm £230???
when I had my meter changed from inside the house to a flush box on the wall outside, British Gas charged me £200 15 years ago......and I had to collect and fit the box, and do the internal connections. All they did was disconnect old meter, and fit new one!!
